A Carefully Sequenced Roadmap:

Since the April signing, progress has moved swiftly and deliberately. On May 2, both Rwanda and the DRC submitted separate proposals on the draft agreement to the United States. Secretary Rubio’s team now holds the responsibility of arbitrating and merging these documents into a single comprehensive draft.

The peace process follows a structured timeline:

  • First Phase (until May 15): The U.S. team prepares a unified draft based on the proposals from Kigali and Kinshasa.
  • Second Phase (week of May 15): Technical experts from both countries will meet in the U.S. to amend and refine the draft.
  • Third Phase (around May 21): Foreign Ministers Nduhungirehe and Wagner will reconvene in Washington to validate the final version of the agreement.
  • Final Phase (week of June 15): Presidents Kagame and Tshisekedi are expected to formally sign the peace agreement in Washington. The signing will be attended by:
    • U.S. President Donald Trump
    • Kenyan President William Ruto, representing the East African Community (EAC)
    • Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa, representing the Southern African Development Community (SADC)
    • Togolese President Faure Gnassingbé, representing the African Union (AU)
    • U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio
    • Additional representatives from Qatar and France
One would think that the final signing of the peace agreement could trigger a few more acquisition offers for AVZ. 🤔
Hopefully, for KoBold’s sake, they made a good offer, since our agreement with them isn’t binding and we could theoretically go with a better one. A bidding war would be a fitting happy ending to this thriller of a stock.

Yeah wish i knew mate but i have a feeling we will find out by way of one of our posters who monitor the ICSID website.
AVZ have commited to propose the temporary suspension of ICSID. So this is one of the tools that Massad Boulos will use in his negotiations.
AVZ is acting in good faith to facilitate the peace process deal but as Spike so eloquently put it this morning

Legs Eleven, till we bumfeg this replevin.

In other words in 11 days we gunna smash you with the ICSID

" ... As you can see, we are all in on increasing trade and investment with Africa. But for this to succeed, each of us has to do our part. U.S. companies stand to gain by taking greater risks and actively pursuing opportunities in new markets – but success demands more than ambition.

You must be willing to invest not just in capital, but in time – time spent understanding the market and how it operates. Events like this and the many American Chambers of Commerce across the continent, provide excellent opportunities to do just that. ..."

Something significant like postponement of ICSID should be announced by AVZ rather than us finding it through the media. Then again, no reason to postpone it yet until we receive something concrete from DRC. Fatshi and Co are not trustworthy.

I still think that only a bidder that fits the geopolitical profile of the US will be supported by the US and integrated into the peace agreement. And that has a tight timetable!

Of course I would also like to see a bidding war, but please remember that so far we have to fight for our rights before the ICSID, which could lead to either self-production or sale.

In the peace deal, Trump dictates the rules, not any bidders who come forward.
In this respect, it will come down to 2 options:
* We accept the deal with Kobold (happily or grudgingly)
* We continue to wait for the ICSID to be successful.

I'm just as excited as you are to see if we can finally reap some of the rewards of our years of suffering.
But I remain realistic - our leverage in the peace agreement is not very long.
The ICSID route could possibly bring more, but it is fraught with uncertainties.

Cheer up and let's not give up hope.

I wonder if there's another variation on this whereby Kobold acts as kind of a 'nameplate' entity that holds some portion of the project and provides the US link, and various others join in through a JV, bringing cash and mining operator capability.

Based on the interviews so far, it's obvious Kobold have little mining experience, but they've clearly been sniffing around Manono for a while.

Fold in rumours about Saudis and Rio, plus @geo_au's comments about the BoD being out and about to get the best price, and it's possible a consortium is being put together. Vaguely reminiscent of Simandou...

Saudis investing in an American company to buy Manono would likely still be presented as 'Saudi investment in America' and so likely popular with Trump. Also more popular for Saudis as they piggy back off American security architecture.

Whether or not that Americann company actually ends up being Kobol...

I’ve been reading a bit about the Qataris being involved in these peace agreements. I wonder if they have any interest in funding a JV..
They also have a very large bank accounts like the Saudis..
