AVZ Discussion 2022

I guess we can only hope that Felix and his administration are equally peeved about Chins'a parsimonious $1m aid package, and finally see through China's self-serving propaganda in order to make the right call on Manono when the time comes. However, I'm not holding my breath while the same low-life retain their influential positions in Cominiere and CAMI in particular.

Still, all is not lost. July is just a month away and they will be getting nervous as their negotiating window closes and the ICC deadline approaches.

Cheers

Yep, there would be thousands of people positively impacted through the development of a sustainable mine, not only in terms of personal income and skills development for those directly involved in operations, but also through secondary benefits. There would be a lots of money flowing through the local economy, supporting local businesses and creating the need for infrastructure investment and all the jobs that come with that.
Importantly, it would provide hope and optimism where that is (seemingly) in short supply.

Instead, we have a bunch of greedy khunts who want everything for themselves at the expense of those many thousands of people.

The will of the corrupt continues to grind its way through a people desperate to lift themselves out of poverty and into a more prosperous future. It must be sickening to the stomach for them to see this play out while their day-to-day needs remain unmet.
Just have to hope that FT actually had " amicable " agreements with President Evil , that he got what he wanted in regards to a better arrangement with past mining contracts from the Kabila regime and told Evil to tell his " pack dogs " ( zijin ) to back off from Manono and that he would do the same to Cominiere, so as to award AVZ the ML and allow the battery hub vision to become a reality.

CATL / CATH , SHENZHEN, GANGFENG & KALON finally get their lithium & tin supply that they desperately need!!

That common sense approach would not only provide the DRC with a much needed boost to its finances in years to come, therefore a boost to the locals living conditions , but would also improve relations with Australia and boost its wretched reputation within the international community as a place to invest.

On the chinese equation, relations with Australia would get more of a boost , which currently is on the slight improve with China taking the brakes off trade sanctions with timber , coal and potentially other commodities ......

But what will the reality be and when ?

imo

The reality is that Felix got 3 non internally interfering (yes China doesn't believe in interfering in a countries internal affairs) army drones to make sure the life of the people in Kivu, which were just hit with floods and mudslides, will be more pleasant.

Maybe they are going to use the fukkin drones to make it rain 1million 1 dollar notes over Kivu.

China can be such a ball of fun.

Better make sure CKK doesn't get anywhere near the drones when they get charged with the dollar notes, he might see them as extra payment, all for Celestine.

When will Felix wake up???

AVZ holders collectively would likely donate more than this to various initiatives in DRC. Hell, there’s possibly individual SHs with 10+ mil shares that given significant SP appreciation could donate more than the entire CCP. What a fucken slap in face from the CCP

*To remind,

Tshisekedi, who was born in capital Kinshasa, ran on a pledge to fight corruption and poverty.

The DRC is home to more than 60 percent of the world’s cobalt and is the continent’s second-biggest producer of copper but most of its citizens live in poverty.

1685276098164.png

*To remind,

A fool's bargain?

Last February, the Congolese General Inspectorate of Finance published an audit that caused a stir. (y) :)

The document mentions overcharging in the work carried out in the DRC, but it notes above all that China has kept less than 50% of its commitments while it has earned ten billion dollars since the signing of the contract, including one billion just in interest paid to Chinese banks for their loans.

The DRC would have withdrawn only a little more than 880 million dollars in profits.

A “fiasco” such for the DRC that the General Inspectorate of Finance is claiming 20 billion dollars in compensation from the Group of Chinese companies.

The head of the IGF, Jules Alingete Key, denounces an “economic colonization” of China.

Mireille Manga, lecturer in political science at the Cameroon Institute of International Relations, refutes this term, even if she welcomes the review of the clauses of the “Chinese contract”.

“After 15 years of cooperation through this contract, multiple interactions, we stop to take stock.

The results observed on the ground do not correspond to the initial expectations and therefore it is normal, as partners and sovereign States, that one party or the other decides to question the agreements and renegotiate them. It is a normal process of international political life.”

Mireille Manga, who coordinated a book published by Éditions Palgrave Macmillan, in October 2022, on “The new Chinese silk roads and new forms of nationalism”, continues: “The General Inspectorate of Finances of the DRC wanted to highlight the imbalance of this cooperation and the need to renegotiate the partnership.

But it is in no way a question of colonization, because it is about two conscious and very lucid actors in relation to their interests.

The Chinese authorities did not appreciate the new attitude of the Congolese authorities, but they promised the disbursement of 500 million dollars of investment. o_O

This is much less than the three billion from which the DRC hoped to benefit in infrastructure.

The IGF asks for 20 billion in compensation, xi gives 1 million in aid (could be considered a bribe as it is way too low for aid).
xi states that chinese companies should comply with their agreements eg. infrastructure developments.
Felix calls for government-government agreements.
This says to me that xi has separated chinese companies from the chinese government to place the blame of corruption on the individual companies.
This is a good thing as the DRC can redo the contracts without the threat from the chinese government.
I know what you will say, that the chinese companies are puppets of xi, and you would be correct but xi has drawn a line in the sand.
chinese government commitments = $1 million and a few MOUs.
chinese companies = contracts redrawn for the benefit of the DRC
Manono will be decided in the ICC as the independent umpire and AVZ will be the victor.

Felix Tshisekedi visits Shanghai, the economic lung of modern China

1685318055819.png

President Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi visited on Saturday May 27, for the second stage of his state visit to China, the city of Shanghai, the economic heart of modern China.

He met with the town's Communist Party secretary, Chen Jining, at the local people's palace.

The latter highlighted the role of Shanghai, which wants to become a centerpiece in the strategic partnership between China and the DRC in order to broaden the prospects for cooperation between China and the DRC, reports the Communication Unit of the Presidency of the DRC.

Chen Jining also stressed China's willingness to deepen traditional friendship not only with the DRC, but also with African countries through a new philosophy based on sincerity, candor and substantial relations.

The President of the Democratic Republic of Congo insisted on the protection of the achievements of revitalizing relations between his country and China as initiated with his Chinese counterpart.

The Head of State of the DRC recalled that his country and China have maintained excellent relations for more than 50 years now.

Relations that have left their mark in his country, particularly in the field of infrastructure.

Hi Tonster

Exept that Zijin Mining is a Chinese state owned enterprise (SOE). This means that the Chinese government is the beneficial owner, and its activities are ultimately directed by Beijing. Its largest shareholder is Shanghang Minxi Xinghang State-Owned Property Investment Company (Interestingly, the Chinese state gets >30% of its revenue from property sales...just like the Andrews govt in Vic (LOL)).

I don't see evidence of a line in the sand, but just the same shit.

I agree that AVZ will be vindicated, but I think it will be through a negotiated settlement.

It's good to have divergent views.

Cheers

Given you a TU but the alternative could go something like this:

FT. So bearing in mind the obvious Chinese company corrupton we would like to receive compensation and renegotiate contracts with them.

ZingyPingy. Your most esteemed excellency, the corruption of these companies is most reprehensible and they will be pulled firmly into line as much as we can in a free society. You have my word. Changes have aleady been made.

However, you are asking a little too much and in order to safeguard future Chinese investment by these entities you need to back off just a little.
Future contracts can take into account any proven previous underpayments and not impinge on their cashflow and thus allow them to allocate funds to future investment in DRC.

While your here, is there anything we can do, aid your military? Our technology is now on a par with the US and we will not invoke woke 'principles' when considering orders.
Perhaps payments for this equipment could be deferred and be paid for with a loan from PRC.
Anything else we can do to aid your country's development?
Mr President, please be assured that we value your relationship with your country, our interests are to have a strong stable DRC so that we know we have a stable business environment.
The whole nation was honoured by your visit. (Now fuck off).

No doubt AVZ will be the victor as everything via documentation / law leads to it, but fuck me, i am hoping the point of the visit to China apart from the other agenda..........was to get THE PARTY FINALLY STARTED at Manono with AVZ ml in hand, before ICC arbitration in July as that will be another major drag on time for everyone concerned, not sure the mental faculties on this forum could cope with much more....:cautious:😭

Actually, we do...;)

Where the fuck is his mask ?

If he goes back home with Covid, mass people will be effected......where is he going to find the funds for anti viral treatment / respirators ?

China will probably give him a big box full of Chinese made vaccinations which purportedly is as useless as fuck and charge him $1m, therefore FT goes back home with no aid at all for the floods, ......:cautious:

Penny should be on the phone with Xi “now you’ve agreed that you are happy with your DRC partnership, we are going to need you to call off zinjin and offer Aust shareholders a reasonable price for their investment, and we can all get back to pretending your not just a mandarin speaking devil in a suit”

Which is the ICC hearing is occurring in July?
  • The one initiated by AVZ to stop the dissolution of Dathcom?
  • The claim by the corrupt ones for $1.6b(?) against AVZ?
  • The claim for $500m because Nigel parked in Celestine’s allocated spot?
  • Something else?
Oh, do we know why we’ve heard crickets about the MMCS case at the ICC?

it's the one where Zijin (JC) take AVZ to task to validate their (illegal) purchase of the 15%, but the first part is to decide whether they actually have the right to do this, as they were not part of the JVA
