I have often said Chyna needs DRC , more than DRC needs Chyna, DRC have alot of other options to improve their standard of living and FT needs to strike some major blows if he wants to be re elected, so far from my naked eye he has done fuck all, but maybe I have under estimated him and he has a swarm of positive news ready to hammer out.....;)

I remain positive despite the scum and shit that has been thrown our way for over 12 months.

Presidency: Félix Tshisekedi rearranges his cabinet and reduces the workforce

The Head of State Félix Tshisekedi proceeded, once again, to the retouching of his cabinet, with in particular new appointments, according to the ordinance read this Tuesday, May 23 on the national channel.

The President of the Republic has appointed Mbombo Muamba Stéphanie Special Envoy for the new Climate Economy, while Claude Ibalanky Ekolomba is now Roving Ambassador of the Head of State, that is to say, he must leave the head of the mechanism monitoring of the Addis Ababa Framework Agreement.

Dany Banza Maloba has also been appointed Roving Ambassador and will no longer assume the role of Head of State's Head of State in charge of monitoring the reforms of the Congolese National Police.

In the category of Mission Managers, the former head of Internal Security of the Head of State, Baitopola Mafuta André Didier joins the team and will take care of the Far North Zone in the company of Mrs. Bomandeke Imenga Fanny also maintained in charge of Far North Zone missions.

Recently appointed as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Transco, Lubanga Taylor returns to the Office of the Head of State as responsible for monitoring cooperation with the International Criminal Court (ICC).

In addition, Mbuyi Kazadi José has been appointed as political assistant and Yala Mayamba Yolande as technical assistant.

This restructuring of the cabinet of the Head of State Félix Tshisekedi comes after that operated in January of the current year.

In these implementations, some functions have been removed.

The money quote right there.

Wondering if this is a new role within that office, generally reflecting a number of ICC cases on the go in the DRC. Or does it directly pertain to the Manono project.

Is "managing cooperation with the ICC" a euphemism for monitoring Comminere's behaviour and compliance in our proceedings.

Is Felix giving the ICC his genuine backing and imprimatur with this appointment. Or is it cynical pre-election window dressing designed to placate his many critics.

Suspect we'll know soon enough, in particular what transpires upon his return from China. Did he cop a raw prawn, or a fortune cookie.

International Criminal Court and international Chamber of Commerce are two different things though, the latter being where our cases are being heard.

yeah, I thought we might have been about to see a whole lot of activity surrounding Ministers being taken to ICrimC, but it's more to do with M23 and various rebel groups/Rwanda etc

Wishful thinking

If only that were the case but alas its the DRC.

Fraud and corruption doesn't seemingly appear to warrant Criminal courts if you are a government minister!

I think it was longer than two years ago. AVZ was supposedly paying for upgrades to it and before that I think Huayou were supposed to be carrying out the infrastructure.

Anyway that’s enough stories and comments from me, now I’m back from suspension I might have to try a bit harder not to make an arse of myself

Yeah I can remember detractors the on HC, and one of the big things they were banging on about was transport.

I'd say the last time I heard about it was 3 odd years ago when I first invested..

Simpler times !!

The Chinese monopoly on African minerals, a handicap for the development of the black continent?

May 24, 2023

Kiki Kienge

By Kiki Kienge

Access to lithium reserves has become the Third World War, Africa is the battlefield for its rich deposits of this mineral, China, the world's leading producer of batteries, does not want to leave room for maneuver to its adversary, United States.

Chinese companies are trying to get hold of all the lithium deposits on the black continent by all means, thus guaranteeing its supply chain and reassuring its position of world leadership.

Establishing battery factories, investing massively in the mining sector on the African continent, as the case of DR Congo where the country of Mao continues to sign partnerships with the government and mining companies, China which already controls more than 60 % of minerals in the country of Lumumba, wants to consolidate in particular its presence in the Congolese lithium industry.

China's strategy in DR Congo in particular and in Africa in general, is to monopolize lithium, as is already the case for cobalt, thus having control of global supplies and battery prices. lithium ions.

However, a Chinese monopoly in the management of African resources would lead to African countries being dependent on Chinese dictate, it would be crucial for Africans to move forward with caution in agreements, it would be wise for African authorities to collaborate with other other global actors, equitable partnerships to protect their long-term interests and guarantee the sustainable development of their country.

The administration of American President Joe Biden gives pride of place to electric vehicles which by 2035 will be the only ones to be sold widowed in many Western countries. So much for anticipating the Chinese strategy, the US State Department signed with DR Congo and Zambia, in December 2022, a partnership agreement for a battery development chain, DR Congo which is the largest producer of cobalt in the world and Zambia, Africa's largest copper producer.

By 2050, lithium needs could be multiplied by 57, with its deposits, the DR Congo can place itself alongside Australia and Chile as one of the three major lithium producers in the world, of course if the DR Congo was starting the exploitation of its ore, which should start this year, but blocked by mysterious maneuvers in the agreements of the Congolese State company and the Australian partner, AVZ MINERALS.

In addition to the Erongo project in Namibia by the Chinese giant Huyaou Cobalt, which has invested US$2.5 million, China will buy the lithium mine of the mining company Williams Minerals in Zimbabwe for 1.75 billion dollars from the group of Chinese holding company Feishang Group and the civil engineering company Top Pacific (China).

With the visit of Congolese President Felix Tshisekedi to China from the 24th to the 29th of this month, China intends to reassure its hold on Congolese lithium.

It is up to the Congolese head of state, Félix Tshisekedi, to cede or not the monopoly of lithium to China, as it was for his predecessor, Joseph Kabila on Congolese cobalt.

Fight against corruption and embezzlement of public funds: the IGF and the Superior Council of the Judiciary strengthen their links

Very committed to the fight against corruption and the embezzlement of public funds, the Inspector General of Finance, Jules Alingete Key, requested and obtained solid support from justice in cases related to this evil, which has long destroyed the Republic Democratic Republic of the Congo.

It is in this context that he met with the President of the Superior Council of the Judiciary, Dieudonné Kalumeta Badibanga, in order to strengthen relations in the sense of restoring confidence to the population because it is with justice that a nation rises.

Speaking to the press, Jules Alingete, who only counts on the involvement of justice, said he had contacted the president of the Superior Council of the Judiciary to seek his personal involvement in all files related to corruption. and embezzlement of public funds.

The number one of the General Inspectorate of Finance said he was very delighted following the audience granted to him for the simple reason that the president of the Superior Council of the Judiciary told him of his determination to support the vision of the President of the Republic in the context of the fight against corruption and the embezzlement of public funds.

This is why it will accompany all files related to the repression of anti-values in the management of public affairs.

As an auxiliary of justice, the IGF is forced to work with the judicial authorities because most of the cases handled by it always end up in the hands of these authorities, acknowledged Jules Alingete.

This is why, according to him, the IGF is required to come at any time to seek their involvement and support so that the fight against corruption and the embezzlement of public funds can experience significant progress in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

For his part, the President of the Superior Council of the Judiciary, Dieudonné Kamuleta Badibanga, recalled that the physical presence of the Inspector General of Finance does not mean that there were no contacts long before.

As Jules Alingete said, the president of the Superior Council of the Judiciary recognized that there are major issues concerning the cleaning up of affairs to stop the proliferation of anti-values in the country.

This is why he assured that all these files will be carried out successfully.

To materialize this change of narrative, they inaugurated another phase of cooperation because in previous files, the Superior Council of the Judiciary was not copied.

Currently, thanks to the copies of each file that will be submitted to it, the Superior Council of the Judiciary will ensure that the investigating magistrate can work in such a way as to restore hope to the population.

With this change in the mode of collaboration between the General Inspectorate of Finance and the Superior Council of the Judiciary, those nostalgic for degrading practices must take action and embark on the train of change.

Recalcitrants will undoubtedly find new “residences” that will correspond to their behavior. 👍🙏 🤞

"China intends to reassure its hold on the Congolese lithium."

Interesting way of putting it . I wasn't aware China had a hold on DRC's lithium apart from trying to steal 15% of the Manono project .It's up to Felix. He's in a very prickly situation. Does he have the balls to go against China ?
