AVZ Discussion 2022

In a stunning turn of events, it looks like CATH could very well be the Saviour (at least optically) for a decent return for shareholders . We have another party who has cash to burn , funding our legal battles, and is a major investor in the project (at least on paper). AVZ are rightfully, keeping that option open and this is arguably the reasoning why Kobold have been so public and brash about developing the project. Kobold play shit for brain games, CATH steps up in its place.

There were discussions on the US Government having placed critical minerals as part of its defence budget (or something along those lines?). Is that just for domestic supply or supply chains in general? You'd think Kobold would be dipping their dick in that honeypot for cash (even though they are rolling it - why not let the US government underwrite your investments?).

You'd think they could go pretty high in terms of cash offerings.... we just need that other keen buyer (which we will have many in china alone!).

C'mon Nige, bring this pony into the final straight. We are almost home now.

Oh really, Phatcatz?

I didn’t realise Titfart Tommy had a new job :eek:

Cath own a few shares in AVZ - well, fuck me, so do I
Cath do not have any share of the Project unless certain CP’s are met
Cath do not have rights to buy the whole project

AVZ will always play the ICSID PO’s as the status quo - i.e. CATH is in play, awaiting DRC issuance of the ML

Quote:
however it appreciates the opportunity that has
emerged to explore a resolution of the current issues relating to the Manono
Project, which it will continue to pursue in a constructive and open manner in the
best interests of its shareholders and other key stakeholders, including Suzhou

CATH Energy Technologies.

Still, if it’s in the paper it must be true

The figure I've been told that's been offered by KoBold is USD$0.85 per share. And that there are other bidders who have offered significantly more.

I think it’s time Kobald recognises that there’s no bargain to be had here when it comes to Manono. This is a world-class asset, and if they’re not prepared to meet a fair price, they risk losing it to a buyer who is — and there are certainly parties out there willing to pay significantly more.
Let’s be real, this is peanuts for the U.S. in the broader scheme of critical mineral security. Donald’s not going to be happy if they let Manono slip through their fingers over a couple of billion dollars.

Well, well, well, Kobold certainly does not appear to be a lay down misere, not by a long shot!

Various parties , meaning competition , price pressure to capture the biggest , best grade of lithium the world will ever see and whilst those discussions continue....

Lithium spot price has just cracked into the 70,000 territory.

Let the games continue.

AVZ BOD playing it to perfection.

I never said KoBold was a named party in the arbitration. What I said - and what AVZ’s announcement confirms - is that KoBold’s deal with the DRC is the reason AVZ went back to ICSID on July 18. That’s not my “interpretation.” It’s verbatim:

“…and on 18 July 2025, informed the ICSID Tribunal of the GDRC Kobold Agreement which is a breach of PO3.”

That’s not how a friendly, cooperative deal gets handled. That’s a breach notification. And it completely undermines this idea that everything is sunshine and backroom handshakes.

I’ve said before—and I’ll say again—I hope it all works out. I want my money back. I want us all properly compensated. I've been very consistent about that. But let’s not pretend KoBold signing onto disputed ground is business as usual.

And finally—if anyone here wants to call me a moron, accuse me of being a puppet, or throw personal insults instead of engaging with the facts: go for it. It says more about you than me.
Great attempt to create discord in order to undermine the discussion. Includes the usual tactic of discussing yourself.
But, it didn't work.

Tommy is the author?

Found it. Brad Thompson is the "journalist." But he is mates with Tommy. They both worked together at the AFR.

Where is this info from? @KentCStrait ....from the horses mouth?
But honestly I am not surprised by CATL still being in the game. Mr Pei never would have let Manano go to the Americans without a fight.
Pei and Felix had for sure some secret talks behind the curtains in the last 2 month. Chinese and American way of doing business is very different, as we know...The big Question is only how does Felix gets away with that without Trump lifting his finger...
The problem in the end is $$$ again...Will Kobold pay up a fair price for AVZ's interest?
I think they won't let go Manano and eventually will make a reasonable offer...spot on @Charbella

Yeah, they've sort a new order against the DRC at the end of June, and then gone back on the 18th July, to report DRC and KoBold.

I remain eternally hopeful this is all going to work out. But I don't see how people can read that announcement and think all is rosy. KoBold is up to no good, just like the Chinese and DRC, they're just being a lot more sophisticated about it.

JUST MY OPINION

Honestly, I think AVZ right now has the strongest hand we've had since this whole debacle kicked off.

AVZ has a few aces up its sleeve:

  • ISCID proceedings - which, so far, have backed AVZ's claims. The company hasn’t broken any laws and has played by the DRC Mining Code. If this goes the distance, I'd imagine a cool $10 billion and change could land in AVZ’s lap. Not that I want it to drag out, but hey, if push comes to shove, why not take the scenic route?
  • Chinese major backer CATH - still very much in the game. In theory, they could just buy AVZ out. There’s no shortage of brown paper bags if KoBold doesn’t show up soon - and let's be honest, that’s always an attractive offer for DRC Ministers. And before anyone yells at me - I’m not pro-Chinese, FFS. I’m just a realist.
  • KoBold - desperate to prove themselves with a tier-1, once-in-a-lifetime asset so they can sit at the big kids’ table. Gates wants to save the world. Bezos just wants more money and power. Classic.
  • Trump - somewhere out there, Trump’s probably been stroking himself thinking about all the juicy media headlines and MAGA tweets he can drop once this thing wraps up (if it ever does). He wants this deal done yesterday. A few billionaire backers getting a little something-something is a small price to pay for cucking themselves out to Trump show.
  • And back on KoBold - they've been name-dropping Manono for months like it’s the next Bitcoin. They want it. But honestly? It’s been all talk, no trousers. AVZ’s still holding the line. KoBold will get desperate. AVZ to entertain other offers as its what in the best interest of SHAREHOLDERS. If it's Fucking Chinese or Arabs then so be it. I want maximum return.

I want this shit done, but I want it done with fair compensation. Been holding 7 years now, what's another 7 months?

I've got a couple of sources who independently told me the same figure over the past couple of weeks. I'm not saying it's a sure thing, but they've rarely been wrong in the past.

The both also told me that there are other bidders who have offered significantly more than KoBold, but KoBold is unwilling to budge. Which fits with what's happened since then. As I said before I think KoBold is trying to box these other companies out.
