On the surface, this seems like good news, but the market didn't move. Wondering why, this is the worst case scenario I can think of.
Have we tied or signed some kind of contract with US Defence in which we can only deal with them? The only recent ANN of any note was with AFRL (US airforce). If true, this is not good news IMO for revenue streams.
This also explains Viana's gaffe at the AGM about 'any country' to redomicile to and not just the US (nice cover mate). Also the redomicile idea itself... If we supply the US Defence force why the hell should we be in Australia? We have dealt with many other companies in countries like Japan and in Europe etc.
I don't keep up to date, but we surely should have had more patents out than usual. Are we allowed to?
The increased secrecy especially recently.
Hate to put a damper on seemingly good news. Anyone feel free to shut down or prove how any of questions above could not be true.
donât follow every rumor with bated breath, but some thoughts tend to stick. One idea thatâs been floating around is that BrainChip might now be working so closely with the US Department of Defense (DoD) that theyâve been âmuzzledâ and can only deliver to them â and thatâs why nothing seems to be happening publicly anymore. On the surface, it sounds somewhat plausible⊠but it doesnât really hold up.
Because honestly: If there were a genuine exclusive contract with the Pentagon, that would be ASX disclosure-worthy. The stock exchange doesnât mess around. You wouldnât be allowed to keep such a deal completely under wraps â even if the details were confidential. And we simply havenât seen such a disclosure.
Also, their civilian partners are still in play: Renesas, Edge Impulse, Vorago and others haven't been cut off â which theyâd need to be if BrainChip was bound to a single customer. They're even still expanding into developer ecosystems. Thatâs⊠not exactly âtop secretâ behavior.
Then there was Viannaâs comment at the AGM about being able to move headquarters to âany country.â Sure â theoretically possible. But Australia is still home. And anyone whoâs ever been involved in a headquarters relocation knows itâs not something you just do with a coffee in your hand. Itâs a serious endeavor
A for patents â thereâs no real red flag. BrainChip is still filing new ones. Sure, not every innovation becomes public (hello, NDAs), but weâre not seeing a complete freeze either.
So whatâs the takeaway?
Maybe BrainChip is simply operating strategically in stealth mode. Maybe there are some exciting DoD-related projects under NDA. Maybe theyâre intentionally flying low to later fly high. Who knows.
But the idea that theyâve become a single-customer military supplier, abandoning all other markets? That feels like a stretch. It just doesnât match the companyâs behavior. And sometimes, a Vianna quote is just⊠a Vianna quote.
Iâm staying calm â alert, but no tinfoil hat. And if something concrete surfaces, Iâll be ready with either a solid âI told you soâ or a surprised âWell damn, didnât see that coming.â Whate
ver comes first.
