For vehicle to vehicle communication, there will need to be an agreed international standard communication protocol, just as there is for mobile phones.

For a company's patents to be included as part of the international standard, the company must agree to license their patents on reasonable terms to anyone who wants to use the patented invention. Having a set of core patents would be a nice little earner.

I’ve been spending some time in Japan lately, and things are starting to get interesting when you look at who’s actually connected to whom.
During a conversation with a business partner, a company called Vector came up …a German player… so let’s take a look.

Renesas, who,… as we all know,…licensed Akida from us, plays a pretty central role in all this. Not just because they’re integrating the Akida IP, but also because they’ve worked with Vector years ago. Back then, it was about CANopen and industrial Ethernet… not exactly headline material, but definitely industrially relevant.

So what’s Vector’s role? Well, they’re not some small outfit. They’re playing in the top league, especially in the AUTOSAR space. And more recently, they’ve teamed up with Synopsys to develop SDV platforms.
Yes, Synopsys… the same one that’s part of the Intel Foundry Alliance… just like BrainChip.

What’s emerging here is a pretty tight-knit web of players. Not all directly connected, but definitely linked through shared nodes:

Renesas ↔ Vector
Renesas ↔ BrainChip
Synopsys ↔ Intel Foundry ↔ BrainChip
Synopsys ↔ Vector

And when you also consider that Vector has been working with Mercedes-Benz on SDV tooling and embedded software…
Well, maybe it’s worth taking a closer look at what’s possibly already brewing quietly in the background.

Coincidence? Or is there already something moving under the radar that just hasn’t made it to the headlines yet?

Synopsys and Tata Electronics signed a Memorandum of Understanding on June 25, 2024.
Synopsys and Tata Elxsi formalized their partnership on July 11, 2025. This MoU focuses on delivering pre-verified, integrated virtualization solutions (vECUs and electronics digital twins) to accelerate software-defined vehicle development.
Sounds like Tata may be fairly advanced.

Based on BrainChip's communication, I'm guessing that we won't even know whether or not they achieve the $9M target in bookings this year.

But they promised at the AGM to actively engage and communicate with the shareholders. I am sure that AV said that they would and will do better.
So that empty promise is hopefully not the same as our commitment to revenue this year, but I guess they won’t be able to remember what they said or signed off on will they, going on past performance's.

But in saying that there sure has been plenty of progress and linked in stories, hopefully they can be believed and something good comes out of it.

The Tats/Synopsys collaboration goes way past Auto.
Remember from my last post the 2022 Synopsys Artificial Intelligence pic shows a board containing an AKIDA chip.
In June 2024, Synopsys and Tata Electronics signed an MoU to support India’s first semiconductor fab in Dholera, Gujarat.

The partnership focuses on:

  • Advanced factory automation
  • AI-enabled yield analytics
  • TCAD flow setup
  • Design enablement IP and DTCO methodologies
Synopsys CEO Sassine Ghazi praised Tata’s vision for building semiconductor capacity in India

Tata Elxsi Partners with Mercedes-Benz R&D India for SDV and Vehicle Software Engineering
On 14th May 2025 Tata Elxsi announced via press release:
" Bangalore, India, May 14, 2025: Tata Elxsi, a global leader in design and technology services, has today announced that it has been selected by Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India for Vehicle Software Engineering and Software Defined Vehicles (SDV) development."
Its a small world when it comes to auto
We also know that the Mercedes Group is big on Neuromorphic computing.

  • Edge AI: Neuromorphic chips are ideal for smart sensors, drones, autonomous vehicles, robotics – any system that needs to make decisions locally, with minimal power draw. Who’s Building Neuromorphic Chips – And Who Stands to Profit​

A small but growing group of companies is building the neuromorphic future. Some are public. Most are still private. But the investment landscape is already starting to take shape.
There is BrainChip Holdings (BRCHF): the purest publicly traded neuromorphic play – albeit a very risky one. The company makes the Akida chip, a neuromorphic processor designed for ultra-low-power edge AI. It’s already being used in smart sensors and defense applications.
BrainChip also holds IP licensing and development agreements with major entities (including Renesas, MegaChips, Mercedes, NASA, and Raytheon, as well as a cybersecurity project with Quantum Ventura tied to the U.S. Department of Energy).
Revenue is still modest, and the company is largely unproven. But if neuromorphic computing hits an inflection point, the potential upside could be massive.
On the more stable side, we have Intel. The blue-chip tech giant is dabbling in neuromorphic computing.
