BRN Discussion Ongoing

Yes.

Akida 1 was priced according to performance, the more nodes a customer licensed, the higher the royalty. So now we have extended the upper end performance with Akida 2, the royalties should also increase with performance.

Akida 2 is denominated in 3 flavours Akida 2E, Akida 2S, and Akida 2P all with TeNN.

Each flavour is sub-divided by the number of nodes:
E has 1 to 4 nodes;
S has 2 to 8 nodes;
P has 8 to 128 nodes with optional ViT.

This is in addition to Akida 1 (available with up to 20 nodes) and Akida 1.5 probably with the same node options as Akida 1, but without the processor.

https://brainchip.com/akida2-0/

The 2nd generation IP platform will support a very wide range of market verticals and will be delivered in three classes of product.

Akida-E: Extremely energy-efficient, for always on operation very close to, or at sensors.
Akida-S: Integration into MCU or other general purpose platforms that are used in broad variety of sensor-related applications
Akida-P: Mid-range to higher end configurations with optional vision transformers for ground breaking and yet efficient performance
.

So there will be a range of royalty rates depending on the selected model and "horsepower".
Dio,

What’s your view on whether customers have to restart the production cycle with Gen 2?

And this too Funky Chicken!
Ps- also see our partnership with si-five and their x280 intelligence series combined with us and their collaboration with NASA and Microchip. Sorry, on an i-pad now and it sucks. 🛼
Bravo, love your contributions ❤️

Keep it coming

[QUOTE="Cartagena,

Another way to look at this is this way.

I sit on a board of a small not for profit. Every month the CEO provides his report. Ultimately we approve his approach. Now our constitution prohibits the CEO from recruiting additional staff but either way the board would need to sign off the on going expansion of a business. Now under Australian corporation laws this is where the directors earn their $$$$. They must balance their responsibilities against the law surround financial accountability. So not only would Sean need to have a justification for the hire he would need to present a board pack to the board detailing the risks and benefits along with timeframe. So unless the directors arnt asking the hard questions I am satisfied that the flow of revenue must be, based on what they have before them, either foreseeable or is part of a long term strategic plan ( which could involve further revenue raises I agree), but this plan would then be reviewable and persons held to account if fundamentally wrong. So yes more money leaving than going but I am confident that the Board can see the “tipping point” (little nod to FF) on their plan and this is just another step towards it.

No Akida in SC1260.

Akida is inside SC1220 and SC1240a.
Even better... it appears that these products are available now.

I don’t think the two are mutually exclusive. I’d expect another announcement about 2000.

The blind, withered, and oppressed optimist in me hopes that several active customers didn't elect to defer their evaluation of BRN's tech until after the expected release of Akida 2.0 this week. After all, why would they reiterate this if it wasn't all active customers...

Yes I saw this as well - It was known and I still am hoping for some decent products to be launched here based on Akida 1000 ....and some revenue to match soonish. Fingers crossed.

It comes down to how much time a partner has invested into the Akida 1000 tech in the last 3 to 4 odd years - if you were 80% to 90% through dev/test on Akida 1000 and it does all you need from Akida 1000 then you would continue with your product release. Right! as there is no way after investing that much time you are walking away from a working product.

You can think for future the partner can possibly incorporate Akida 2000 if needed - but if you product is working and a breakthrough on Akida 1000 you would still launch it and monetise it.

Was quite annoyed to see the following statement...
"noting that several active customers elected to defer their evaluation of BrainChip’s technology until after the expected release of Akida 2.0 in August 2023."

But I feel much better as Sean stated the followings (as well as acknowledging result should be better):

while the results are clearly not acceptable, they were anticipated. The focus on accelerating development on the 2nd generation Akida architecture which will allow us to reach new customers and solve bigger challenges on higher value applications drove incremental cost. Our commitment to releasing this market-leading product in the shortest time possible drove an increase in labour cost over the same period last year. Further adding to the expanded loss was the non-cash item of RSUs issued to our former Chairman, which added additional expense. In anticipation of 2nd generation Akida, we have seen a lot more traction from serious prospects and very detailed evaluations, however decisions are being delayed until formal release of the platform. The depth and quality of these engagements gives me strong confidence
in the strategy and growth potential of BrainChip.

Decisions being delayed until formal release of the platform vs deferring evaluation is very different imo..

Wasn't Akida 1500 designed, based on customer feedback/requirements? Hopefully some light shed on which "partners" are designing modules with 1500?

What is "General availability?" Is this a reference chip/hardware?

Re Gen 2:
“the expected release of Akida 2.0 in August 2023.”

& then

“Decisions delayed until formal release of the platform”

So that assumes that yes there will shortly be a formal announcement of Gen 2 licensing availability..

August ends on Thursday.. Therefore…… ?? Announcement by Thursday or BRN are mixing messages..
