BrainChip Holdings Ltd, the world’s first commercial producer of ultra-low power neuromorphic AI IP, today announced that BrainChip founder and Chief Technology Officer Peter van der Made has made a personal donation of 3,500,000 BrainChip Ordinary Shares to the Lions Alzheimer’s Foundation in Australia.

Mr van der Made
said, “This donation is intended to provide funding for the continued research of Dr Ralph Martins and his team at the Lions Alzheimer’s Foundation in Perth. Alzheimer’s Disease is an insidious affliction that robs patients of their memories and their quality of life. My father had Alzheimer’s Disease and his suffering impacted me and my family profoundly. I’ve dedicated my professional life to the study of the human brain, so this donation is my way of contributing to the ongoing research to find a cure for this terrible disease.”

The share donation was approved by the BrainChip board, and the shares were transferred through Share Gift Australia, where they have been sold on market in five tranches of 700,000 shares per tranche, over a five (5) day period between 03 June 2022 and 08 June 2022. Based on the share price at the time of the sale, the sales have raised approximately $3.6 million dollars for the Lions Alzheimer’s Foundation.

Mr van der Made is personally paying all taxes associated with the donation of shares to the Lions Alzheimers Foundation.

Dr Ralph Martins said, “I am deeply grateful to Peter for making this generous donation to the Lions Alzheimer’s Foundation to support and advance our research programs for the early Diagnosis, Prevention and Treatment of Alzheimer’s disease.

In my 38 year career working on Alzheimer’s disease research this is the single largest donation second only to Malcolm McCusker and his family who funded the establishment of my research team over several years. We are on the cusp of major breakthroughs for Alzheimer’s and Dementia and this wonderful gift from Peter will hopefully lead to other generous donors coming forward to enable us to develop a blood test for the early detection of Alzheimer’s and implement effective prevention programs for the wider community.”

This announcement is authorised for release by the BRN Board of Directors.

Thanks FF, I am always in awe of our great Founder.

PVDM's large donation is another step forward in fighting this terrifying disease. Thanks PVDM ❤️

My beautiful Mum started out as a Registered Nurse & then over the years worked hard to become a Regional General Manager of a large Alzheimer's / Dementia Organization, Mum was always caring for residents trying to make them as comfortable as possible, when I visited my Mum in these villages over the years I would do the rounds & say hello to some residents to try & lighten their day up a bit but to witness their daily struggles & their confusion was both confronting & heartbreaking.

It was a sad day for these residents about 6 months ago when my Mum decided to retire, she was one of those amazing people you wanted in these organisations to provide & ensure a high standard of care is maintained. Mum actually cared & loved all her residents, she took her job very seriously & every now & then across one or more of her facilities there would be a bad apple amongst the nursing staff who didn't provide the correct humane care, even after being verbally warned again & again they just didn't cut the mustard, Mum would then make it her mission to get rid of them by documenting all their wrong doings, giving them written warnings & then firing them........ one of these staff members she fired wasn't checking insulin levels before administering insulin.....this horrible woman could have killed residents doing this............so glad Mum fired her ass onto the street....

This donation is a great measure of this person ( Peter van der Made ) character, undeniable decency, and a resolve, to, leave his mark in this troubled world, in many ways.

He has taken the opportunity, whilst he can, to give back to society, a few, "gifts" ( for want of a better word ) for the betterment of mankind.

And, he's still working on many others, no doubt about that. He is worthy of all our praises. A fine upstanding individual, a compassionate "quiet achiever" who is just remarkable. And maybe, just maybe, "we ain't seen nothing yet" IMHO.

His journey is not finished, quite, at this moment in time, I'm sure.

I salute you Peter.

Correct I doubt it will ever be finished. He keeps seeing the next mountain range and cannot resist the idea of what might be on the other side.

While it’s for a good cause. Selling is selling, especially offloading in the current economical climate. Couldn’t have been at a worse spot on the chart either. Not a good look. Breaking critical levels only adds selling pressure.

You have presented your view as someone who is sophisticated and has an understanding of the market.

Perhaps then you could provide the authority for your proposition that selling or buying less than one twentieth of one percent of the shares on issue on any given day can be market making.

Also can you present the authority for your assertion that donating to a worthy charity is not a good look.

My opinion only DYOR

Shares on issue are irrelevant, all that matters is the % of the volume being sold in relation to the volume done on the day or days. It's simple supply and demand that has cause and effect. While it may have only been a certain % of volume, that downward pressure creates more supply at critical areas. This is exactly how short sellers create downward pressure.

This may be too critical but when running a large company these decisions should be strategic with share price in mind (consultancy). Decisions like this I think would cause a lack of votes. All IMO.

It seems just as you have stated this is only your opinion and you have absolutely no independent authority upon which to rely for the purpose of expressing same.

The time for people to give is when things are not all caviar and champagne however as the following article makes clear this is never the case even in a country like the USA where giving is considered to be a virtue of the rich:

To suggest that you may be 'too critical' is to completely understate how limited in your thinking and perspective you really are when a person of the stature of Peter van der Made goes completely against the trend of corporate Australia and gives to an extremely worthwhile charity at a time of economic uncertainty.

You are not worthy to shelter in his shadow so shallow and transparent are your motives here.

Previous comments, and specifically the demeanor of the comments, have given me doubts of this person's intentions and integrity. Comments on this thread and others seem to have a remarkable similarity to those of the walkers and sharepersons on another site. My assessment is not solely based on the avatar.

I don't really care what the market was doing at the time of Peters very generous donation or what effect it had on the market. After watching my dad slowly get taken by this insidious disease not that long ago, I applaud anything that may help prevent others in the future having to go through this. If that means my investment takes a short term hit, I really don't care and have even more respect for Peter for doing this out of generosity, and not a business decision. Hopefully my stake in BRN will allow me to do the same one day

Good gosh, I've held a core parcel in BRN longer than any of you. It's fine, I'll go back to read-only.

As you were.

The length of owning shares in this company is irrelevant in this situation. You are trying to frame a selfless act of donating to such a worthy cause, as a negative.

Exactly my sentiment. He needs to reassess his motives IMHO, whoever he is.

Some sells are for manipulative purposes, no doubt, but Peters' was for an altogether different reason.
