Thanks...

I have added filters which caught most attempts, and I also did a clean up again this morning of those it missed. Hopefully some other added filters this morning knocks the rest on their head... but its really a never-ending battle.

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to give you all a quick update. Some of you have noticed that I’ve been absent lately — and you’re right, I have.

In short, I suffered a workplace injury that’s left me dealing with a lot of anxiety and stress. While I’ve traditionally worked in a high-tech capacity (and yes, as a few of you super-sleuths figured out), I’m now doing lawn mowing and property maintenance in my local area. This is actually part of my treatment and recovery plan.

I’ll still be checking in from time to time — cleaning up abusers, keeping things in order, and making sure the place runs smoothly — but please understand that using technology can still be quite traumatic for me. That’s the only reason I go quiet at times.

Thanks for your patience and understanding.

Zee
Good to see you back Z. I hope you have a speedy recovery

What will be Kinshasa's next strategy? After Félix Tshisekedi's outstretched hand to restart dialogue, Kigali, through the voice of its Foreign Minister, slams the door shut: "He can always wait until the Greek calends, because Rwanda is truly not interested." A scathing statement that reignites the question: towards diplomacy or towards deterrence?

Wealth taxes don't work in the real world

Suggesting people can just take out loans to cover this sort of situation is batshit insane
Lol

Chalmers finally took the L

No tax on 'unrealised' gains

The other source of controversy was that Labor's tax was going to treat assets held in super funds in a novel way.

The earnings tax applies only to "realised" gains — such as when interest is earned, a dividend is received, or a property is sold.

But the proposed tax would have also covered "unrealised" gains — such as an increased valuation of a home, a farm, or a painting held inside a self-managed super fund.

But critics said it was unfair to tax people for gains in the value of assets that were not "liquid" (that is, that do not provide them an income stream).

Now, it has been scrapped. The new version of the proposal will apply only to realised gains, and the start date for the tax has been pushed back to 2026 to allow super funds time to figure out how to apply it.

It kept people’s eyes away from their ever increasing push for power and the belief they are the only party that should ever be in control, but let’s not bog down AVZ with Politics.
