Yeah mate, I hold my shares through Netwealth and they're trustee so (probably like any other super funds) they don't generally provide you with an option to vote via your owned shares. They'll vote themselves and generally just pass all resolutions without looking into it. HOWEVER, I have spoken with them before about this and once a voting form is released, you can email them and make a request directly for how you'd like them to vote. They'll look into it further on this premise, and then if enough people are making the same request, they will adjust accordingly. It just occured to me I have a smaller amount of AVZ shares in my super too but they're not registered at Automic.
I should look into that.
Anyone else the same?
This is likely to be the same with other superfunds too, so it would be worth reaching out to whoever you're with and seeing what your options are.
It may also be the same for internationals if shares are held via a custodian, you'd want to speak with your broker about how to communicate your wishes, as it could provide influence for more than your own shares.
