It’s the World Cup Final, and a man makes his way to his seat right next to the pitch. He sits down, noticing that the seat next to him is empty. He leans over and asks his neighbour if someone will be sitting there.
"No", says the neighbour. "The seat is empty."
"This is incredible", said the man. "Who in their right mind would have a seat like this for the Final and not use it?"
The neighbour says, "Well actually the seat belongs to me. I was supposed to come with my wife, but she passed away. This is the first World Cup Final we haven’t been to together since we got married."
"Oh, I’m so sorry to hear that. That’s terrible… But couldn’t you find someone else, a friend, relative or even a neighbour to take her seat?"
The man shakes his head. "No", he says. "They’re all at the funeral."

The above X post from Felix indicates many things as discussed below, but first noting again that the DRC v M23 peace discussions are still ongoing.
1. The DRC government is now publicly aligning with KoBold, signaling that it views KoBold (not AVZ) as the primary partner for Manono’s development going forward.
2. Because AVZ and KoBold previously agreed on a framework for KoBold to acquire AVZ’s interests at fair value, the X post may be a soft confirmation that this framework is being activated, with KoBold taking the lead and AVZ transitioning to a compensated exit.
3. DRC is presumably confident of a DRC v M23 peace agreement soon and hence, is getting all the ducks lined up.
4. Despite the fact that the DRC is refusing to acknowlege AVZ, this X post is very positive for AVZ because both the DRC and Kobold need AVZ to drop the ICSID and ICC cases as per the 6-May-2025 Kobold/AVZ framework agreement. That is, imo this news today is a big step towards AVZ being paid fair value.

I think you’re missing the forest for the trees.
There’s no Cominière here. This is a direct agreement between KoBold and the DRC government, personally witnessed by President Félix Tshisekedi. That’s not just symbolism—it’s a clear signal of who’s really in control now.
KoBold and AVZ already have a framework agreement in place. And KoBold can’t move forward unless AVZ drops the ICSID and ICC cases. That means AVZ must be paid—because without us, this doesn’t go anywhere.
What we’re seeing now is the endgame.
The DRC is publicly backing KoBold. KoBold is securing its position with the government. Once the final political and legal conditions fall into place, our deal gets executed.
We’re almost out.

@Jongo, very good summation of the progress being made. Given DRC refuse to engage with AVZ, it’s the only way this can progress, without waiting for ICSID.
We will still need to win the Dathomir 5% case in December though to cement in the 75%. Then we have to see the DATHCOM JV acknowledged as still in play, settle on the demarkation line for the 13359 split, if there is to be one (all indications are there will be), Power station, compensation from Zijin etc etc
Would we sell them our FROR to Cominiere’s 15% ?

I think that you have not read my post thoroughly, noting that your post is much the same as my post, other than your point that highlights the fact that Cominiere is out of the picture ... which is a good point to highlight.
Regarding the Dathomir 5% and the FROR 15%, I suspect that due to the DRC and Kobold urgency to finalise, Kobold and AVZ will take a pragmatic approach. That is, assume that AVZ will win all of the court cases and factor that assumption into the fair value calculation for AVZ to drop the ICSID and ICC cases.

That signing was just the preliminary signing by ministers three weeks ago on 27 June 2025. The presidential signing in Washington is scheduled for around 27 July.
Ignore it.
The 27-Jun and 18-Jul signing events are different.
27 June: International peace and investment accord (DRC–Rwanda–US)
18 July: Internal DRC decree on mining title reallocation (KoBold-focused)
Also regarding the finalisation of the Washington Accord ... including the three presidents, a formal date has not been set yet. Maybe it will be 27-Jul, but it could be sooner or could be later.
My thoughts are that in the signing of the agreement by Mom and being overseen by Felix himself is exactly what we want to happen ie Felix will make an executive decision re all what you mention Xerof. Cong will get told to fuck off , Celestine will unfortunately retain his share of Manono lithium , demarkation line of 13359 split sorted between Kobold and Zijin and possibly Zijin will pay some compensation as part of our " Fuck Off package" We now have no part to play other than cancelling ICSID and ICC cases when the money is in our accounts
Given the size of the mess i dont think there was ever any other way to resolve this other than executive order by Felix

Do you (anyone) have any details on what the agreement signed is or is this just a nothing agreement "kobold are going to explore DRC for minerals"?
Obvious elephant it didn't mention Manono or AVZ, I haven't seen any mention of titles, areas, targets or the like.
