Hi All (@Ozthescot , @Rambo , @Thehoneyguy )

As promised, I have set up this thread for folks who have an interest in learning Technical Analysis , there are a number of categories in which to learn and understand to be a capable chartist....

a) CANDLE STICKS

b) SUPPORT & RESISTANCE

c ) TREND LINES

d) PATTERNS

e) RSI 14 INDICATOR

f) BOLLINGER BANDS

g) MOVING AVERAGES

e) FIBONACCI

f) ELLIOTT WAVE ( optional )

I learnt my craft from one of the best modern day traders going around, RAYNER TEO, so most of the ONLINE VIDEOS will be coming from him, his only " weakness " is PATTERNS and ELLIOTT WAVE, so i will include alternate videos to illustrate those categories.

Every week i will include an online video, so you can learn gradually without getting over whelmed with knowledge all at once,.......so lets get started with the first online tutorial....

a) CANDLE STICKS

Hi All

Well , i hope the candle stick video was some help, what you will understand later on, is that alot of candles dont mean alot, the most important candles from my POV, is the DOJI family, cause they represent a possible swing , up or down, i also pay attention to engulfing candles ( up and down ), maruzobu candles ( up and down ), plus a few candle patterns, like Bullish harami, bearish harami ( also known as inside bars / outside bars ), bullish abandoned baby, bearish abandoned baby, anything that could signify a swing, at the end of the day, thats what I do as a SWING TRADER.

Next lesson is probably the most important video of them all..........SUPPORT & RESISTANCE.

I consider that my bank, my fortress, once it breaks up or down, i add or subtract my holdings accordingly, its called MONEY MANAGEMENT.......the difficult part is mainly in the reduction of holdings, especially if KEY FA is imminent.

I aint going to lie, this current sustained bearish MACRO event has made that very challenging , mistakes ( fomo ) have been made resulting in some decent losses , so i have had to make some tough calls in my portfolio and cull the coys that i believe dont have imminent news, and loaded up on the ones that do, this should ensure that the losses will be regained rather quickly, once this BLACK SWAN event subsides.

TA combined with FA is essential

These days , FIBONACCI does my support and resistance automatically, but in my early days, thats what i relied on, and its super important to get it right !!

Over to you RAYNER TEO...........................ENJOY .

Great to see another video, I didn’t know it was up yet so this was a nice surprise. I will attempt to watch tonight or tomorrow if the wife and kids will give me an hour to myself. @BEISHA i really enjoyed the first video, very informative and easy to understand. I will have to watch the last 10 minutes or so again it was getting late and I can’t remember the end. I have been interested in learning to read charts for a long time and having someone with knowledge and experience point myself and others in the right direction has motivated me to finally get to it. Can’t wait to learn more, very much appreciated.

Just a small point that hopefully helps some here.
Over the last few years, I've played around with various charting packages that automatically draw support and resistance.
I've long since concluded that I do it better than any system, partly because I tailor it to a particular timescale and also I'm more contemporary-not focusing on levels from the distant past.
So please, if you get into charting then trust your own judgement. Don't be afraid of mistakes as they are learning opportunities

Thanks for the videos Beisha I’m really enjoying them.

After watching the Support & Resistamce video I’ll have a go and say there should be strong support for AVZ at or above 78-79c when we trade again due to the three touches at that price level - would that be right?
(I know there’s lots of variables around expected news, but I’m assuming a minimum 51% & Cath 24%)

As the top of the candle means people bought up to around $1.15c before pushing down to 78c after a previous close of around $1.00, who bought so high above the low on the previous day? And can we see the volume of shares bought at the high / sold low? Has anyone got the broker reports for the last day of trading?

Spot on Bin, that 78/79 horizontal is a very STRONG SUPPORT line, not sure where you got 3 touches from, i counted a minimum of 18 candles from left to right touching that line if you included all the dojis as well.

If AVZ opens up for trade on the 1/7/2022 , with positive news and the MACRO stabilises, then watch out for a bullish engulfing candle with high volume , come off that support line.

This is what I was referring to for the 3 touches on the support line … I realise now I didn’t go far back enough or count all the red & green touches on the support line - thanks for pointing that out

Hi All

Sorry, got too involved in the AVZ discussion thread on the weekend and forgot to include the next TA video for your perusal.

Not every video includes Rayner Teo, this pattern video is comprehensive and one i used a lot to refer, still do.

Patterns are not my strength, but i know the important ones and its very useful to identify potential swings up and down in unison with other indicators.

enjoy

You will probably laugh at this, but as a "longish" trader of shares, but 100% as an investor in companies I believe in on platforms like sharsies, rather then data trading, my first question was "where on earth do I find the trading data?" haha. I was looking around assuming I needed to pay for a trading platform, so I think the most useful thing for me so far is tradingview.com :LOL:

Nice to know you are getting something out of these tutorials, i have had a busy week dealing with shitty customers and setting up my SMSF which is taking so long to finalise, but no excuse, my bad for taking the eye off the ball.

So lets talk about moving averages, Rayner is a master in this aspect, really took my charting to a new level.

Explanation, followed by the practical

Hi All

Fibonnaci is a excellent tool to understand price retracements ( gain an entry / or top ups ) plus also to outline price targets ( fibonacci extension ) with the aim to take profit.

I like to use the fibonnaci in tandem with my support and resistance lines to get the best of both worlds, to get the ultimate edge regards to potential reversals up and down

This video will teach you how to apply the fibonnaci retracement tool , plus give you an insight as to what the most important fib levels are for reversals.

Next week i will release a video on how to apply the fibonnaci extension tool.

Enjoy the learn
