SYDNEY, Dec 4 (Reuters) - Private equity firm Brookfield said on Monday that it would evaluate its next steps after its buyout offer for Origin Energy was defeated at a shareholder vote.
"In light of the result of the vote, Brookfield will evaluate its next steps, if any, with respect to Origin, given the strong level of Origin shareholder support for its proposal..." the firm said in a statement. (Reporting by Lewis Jackson in Sydney Editing by Alasdair Pal)
