OK, I've read the release but can't quite get my head its significance. Can one of our more learned contributors give us some perspective??

This is an extract from our foundational patent.

Autonomous learning dynamic artificial neural computing device and brain inspired system
Patent number: 8250011
Abstract: A hierarchical information processing system is disclosed having a plurality of artificial neurons, comprised of binary logic gates, and interconnected through a second plurality of dynamic artificial synapses, intended to simulate or extend the function of a biological nervous system. The system is capable of approximation, autonomous learning and strengthening of formerly learned input patterns. The system learns by simulated Synaptic Time Dependent Plasticity, commonly abbreviated to STDP. Each artificial neuron consisting of a soma circuit and a plurality of synapse circuits, whereby the soma membrane potential, the soma threshold value, the synapse strength and the Post Synaptic Potential at each synapse are expressed as values in binary registers, which are dynamically determined from certain aspects of input pulse timing, previous strength value and output pulse feedback.
Type: Grant
Filed: September 21, 2008
Date of Patent: August 21, 2012
Inventor: Peter A J van der Made

My understanding is that this "runs out" in 2028 and then it's open slather on digital neuron circuits?

This is basically a new and improved version, so it's like having a new foundational patent, for another 20 years..

So once competition is able to do how we "used" to do it, in 5 or 6 years time, it will be old hat already..

That's my take, we need @Diogenese's opinion..

To me, this is huge and I'm extremely happy to see it 😊

Which shows us the ever evolving door of technology. Our current chips are out dated lol. Sell IP no need for old inventory.

Does the new patent now make it safer for some companies in the background to come forward and expose themselves?

This doesn't affect their reasons for doing that, but it may be the lynch pin, for additional IP signings, maybe MosChip?

Or other customers, but will we hear about them..

It looks like IP licence signings, by IP enablers, to our end customers, will be the only ones we hear about..

Until the customers see the marketing advantage of announcing the connection?

We are still basically an unknown company in the consumer marketplace, so there would be no advantage, at the moment.

Also, unless we are a key component, we would likely not get a mention..

A downside of being ubiquitous 😛
