ZES-Maluku: Choice international concocts a project for the assembly of vehicles

After the implementation of the Industrialization Master Plan of the Democratic Republic of Congo, companies are scrambling to settle in the pilot special economic zone of Maluku to benefit from various facilities.

Among these companies is Choice International, which specializes in the automotive industry and has proven itself in Nigeria.

This Chinese company intends to quickly set up its vehicle assembly plant in the pilot special economic zone of Maluku, announced Thursday July 28, Diana Chen of Choice international and the group CIG Motors Ltd as well as the China-Africa Economic Council, to the Minister of Industry, Julien Paluku Kahongya.

Happy to hear this good news, the Minister of Industry provided details on the Industrialization Master Plan which subdivides the Democratic Republic of Congo into 6 industrial spaces, each with its own economic profile.

The former governor of North Kivu also returned to the process of creating special economic zones.

Speaking of the electric battery industry, Julien Paluku Kahongya said that the DRC is the best destination in the world today, thanks to its strategic minerals which are involved in the manufacture of batteries and electric vehicles.

The director of cabinet of the Minister of Industry, Jean-Dieudonné Kavese, underlined that a roadmap to accelerate the installation of this Chinese company in the Democratic Republic of Congo has been set up.

“It was discussed with Minister Paluku that we could soon put in place a roadmap that will allow us to be pragmatic. We have just been told that in this roadmap, within 350 days, the first plant can be operational with the production of the first vehicle and that as a first step, it starts with the creation of the company in the DRC and that if they have an order for 1000 vehicles, they are already ready that they can bring these vehicles here to Kinshasa and while these vehicles will be there, they should already open a store where they will start to have spare parts and at the same time have a space in the special economic zone where they will start assembling these vehicles”.

At this meeting, Claude Ibalanky, the coordinator of the National Monitoring Mechanism of the Addis Ababa Agreement and some members of the office of the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister attended the meeting.

Food for thought on the Road to Mining Manono

Frank
If Choice International is going to set up a vehicle assembly plant within 350 days, then they are going to need AVZ to get to the construction / production line ASAP.

Considering the current stand still..............its just a fucking dream at this stage !

This is a good suggestion. Whilst I love semi naked women as much as most members here, I have to be wary when scrolling a new page in the office in case someone can see my monitor!
I wouldn't be too worried about the Semi Naked Sheilas atm, I'd more concerned about getting caught looking at those Semi Naked Sheep, Gorgeous Goats and Handsome Hunks here tbo Retro :ROFLMAO:

I've not seen any mention that the vehicle assembly plant with be for EVs. I imagine it will be for low cost vehicles suited to the local conditions.

" Speaking of the electric battery industry............

I just joined the dots.

Surely the vehicle assembly project wouldnt be related to the petrol combustible engine industry would it ?.......;)

That would be a major juxtaposition regards to the 2050 paris accord plus the EV battery hub vision that the DRC govt has would it not ?

Hi Lichione just been so free to post the translation.
Don't know if Cominière kept some powder dry, but if this is it, it's not a lot.

" According to her, “the vaunted transfer of 750 shares between AVZ International PTY Limited and Green Holding Lithium PTY LTD is far from meeting the legal and statutory provisions applicable in this case. It follows that all resolutions relating thereto will be null and void”."

If it concerns AVZI shares, it got nothing to do with Cominière and the argument can't be used to declare the JV agreement null and void.
All imo of course.

After the mining company AVZ Minéralz, it is the turn of the company COMINIERE SA to also come out of hiding. During a press briefing held on Saturday July 30, 2022 in Kinshasa, COMINIÈRE also gave its version of the facts on the Manono lithium project. According to its counsel, Popol Mwamba, “COMINIERE was never associated with the feasibility study of the Manono lithium project when it was supposed to participate in order to make its amendments”.

Contrary to the company AVZ which affirmed that it acted in accordance with the clauses of the Contract of Joint Venture (CJV), the COMINIERE SA regrets the lack of consideration on behalf of its partner. ” Until the compilation of the feasibility study, COMINIERE SA was never informed of my height of investments committed by AVZ in DATHCOM MINING SA for the realization of research work on the first (25%) this, in violation of the provisions of Article 6 (e) of the CJV,” noted lawyer Popol Mwamba.

In addition to this grievance formulated against the feasibility study carried out by AVZ Minéralz, COMINIÈRE SA criticizes its partner for having included the Mpyana Mwanga power plant in this study when it was an exclusive property of COMINIERE because no agreement was signed, specifies Mr. Mwamba, between COMINIÈRE SA and AVZ Power.

COMINIERE is also opposed to the assertion that AVZ owns 75% of the shares fully crystallized by the fact that Jin Chen, Zijin's subsidiary, is not a shareholder of DATHCOM Mining SA. According to her, “the vaunted transfer of 750 shares between AVZ International PTY Limited and Green Holding Lithium PTY LTD is far from meeting the legal and statutory provisions applicable in this case. It follows that all resolutions relating thereto will be null and void”.

Moreover, counsel Popol Mwamba pointed out that in the context of the Manono tin and lithium project, COMINIÈRE SA and the State retain their prerogatives to assess the performance of their performance in the project in relation to the initial commitments. . “And in the event of poor form, a strategic reframing may prove necessary provided that the general interest of all Congolese is safeguarded,” he argued.

Seems to me that AVZ presented Cominière with a peace offering through the recent media conference.

Now time to crush the cu*ts. These pricks are ousted when the mining licence comes through anyway right?
Should have been made example of as soon as the IGF report was published.

You’d think these Cominière people are talking about another project entirely. And the Minister responsible for Cominière approved this press conference, no doubt. Frustrating. I hope this is a last-gasp face saving act rather than something much worse.

For starters, here is AVZ’s ann on 15/1/20 re MOU with DRC’s Ministry of Hydraulic Resources and Energy for Mpiana-Mwanga hydro-electric power station:

<https://www.asx.com.au/asxpdf/20200115/pdf/44d8p8l5c2cftv.pdf>

I think the cost for the refurbishment agrees to be paid for by AVZ was/is US$40m. This can be found in subsequent announcements.

I’ve found nothing about Cominière owning anything other than owning mining areas and a handful of JVs (I stand to be corrected).

Felix has been able to witness with his own eyes the appetite of the western world atm to financially commit to the DRC.
Shit happens when friends are throwing rocks at his windows and he facilitates them.

Vincent Rouget, the Africa director at Control Risks, a London-based consultancy, said Congo’s government was hoping to take advantage of high oil prices and fresh Western interest in alternatives to Russian fuel.

“But the combination of environmental risks, regulatory uncertainty in the sector, the huge logistical challenges of highly remote exploration, and on top of it all Congo's higher political risk premium, will likely make many majors unwilling to commit,” Rouget said.

Previous efforts by Congolese governments to boost output beyond the roughly 25,000 barrels per day it has long produced along its Atlantic coast have run into these same challenges.

Tshisekedi’s government says Congo has 22 billion barrels of crude reserves and it is targeting production of 200,000 barrels per day.

But even if investment does pour in, critics say there is no guarantee it will benefit the Congolese people.

Congo is already a mining powerhouse, producing large amounts of copper, cobalt, gold, and diamonds, yet it remains deeply impoverished, due largely to corruption and misgovernance.

Two of the blocks on auction near Lake Albert in the east were stripped from Israeli investor Dan Gertler last year. Gertler is under US sanctions for alleged corruption in Congo's mining sector. He denies any wrongdoing.

Gertler was in attendance at Thursday's ceremony, a Reuters reporter said.

Sorry Felix, get your shit together and stop the thieves!

*Speaking of "DRC Deep Water Port Construction Dreams", I see where Banana was on the Menu Friday, as

Construction of the Deep Water Port of Banana: Tshisekedi "welcomes the significant progress made by the Government"

During the Council of Ministers on Friday, July 29, the President of the Republic Félix Tshisekedi welcomed the significant progress made by the Government in the materialization of the construction project of the Deep Water Port of Banana, taking as an example the effectiveness of payments in as part of the expropriation operations of the residents present on the Banana site.

Considering the deadline set for fulfilling the suspensive obligations decided on at the signing of the amended and consolidated agreement on December 11, 2021, which expires on December 11, 2022, the President of the Republic has invited the members of the Government concerned, each within the limits of its prerogatives, to maximize efforts for perfect cooperation so that all of these “conditions precedent” are satisfied by the end of next October.

As a result, Prime Minister Sama Lukonde has been instructed to take stock every two weeks, starting from the Council of Ministers of August 12, 2022, on the level of satisfaction of the clauses concerned until maturation.

This site, which will house a deep-water port open to the Atlantic Ocean, "is a future hub for trade, which will constitute an opportunity to create thousands of jobs and improve living conditions following the dynamic socio-economic consequences,” notes the minutes of this meeting.

Interestingly, Choice International Group (CIG Motors) is associated with GAC Motors. GAC Motors is associated with CATL (existing agreement - 2018) 😉. No wonder CATL aren’t going anywhere - they need as much as they can get from Manono to help service all their commitments. We need to start mining the lithium they need ASAP!

DRC: CIG MOTORS brings a project to set up a vehicle assembly plant in the DRC

My media July 29, 2022 Company

WhatsAppFacebookTwitterEmailSMSTelegram

The Prime Minister, Jean-Michel Sama Lukonde, received, on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at the Primature, a delegation led by the Coordinator of the National Monitoring Mechanism of the Addis Ababa Framework Agreement, Claude Ibalanky. This delegation, which included the Logistics Assistant to the President of the Republic, had come to return the mission that Claude Ibalanky, with his entourage, had carried out to Nigeria, on the instruction of the President of the Republic, Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, to meet some partners wishing to bring socio-economic development projects to the DRC.

At the end of this hearing, the Mechanism coordinator announced the imminent arrival of a delegation from a partner who will come from Nigeria to officially present to the Prime Minister the project to install a vehicle assembly plant. An opportunity to lay the foundations for a new partnership that will make it possible to have vehicles made in Congo by next year, stressed the MNS coordinator before specifying that the project is medium-term, because within 18 months, the plant can be installed in the DRC.

The Prime Minister welcomed the project, which he enriched by giving new directions, Claude Ibalanky noted.

The start-up of this project is the result of an invitation received by the DRC to meet this international group working in Nigeria and which has installed a vehicle assembly plant there.

Announced by the coordinator of the Mechanism at the end of the hearing granted to them by the Head of Government on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, this partner actually arrived in the country from Nigeria to officially present to the Prime Minister the project to install this vehicle assembly plant. It was this Thursday, July 28, 2022, 48 hours after Tuesday's hearing, that this delegation was received by Prime Minister Jean-Michel Sama Lukonde.

For the boss of CIG Motors co who confided in the press, this interview with Head of Government Jean-Michel Sama Lukonde gives positive signals to this trip to the DRC.

"I think this meeting with His Excellency the Prime Minister was a great meeting. Today we were able to meet the Minister of Industry and the Head of State. The meeting with the Prime Minister gives us confidence that this trip is positive and we would like to continue this approach to investing in the country," said Chief Diana Chen.

For the coordinator of the National Monitoring Mechanism, the materialisation of such a project is part of the commitment made by the DRC, which stipulates that the country (DRC) will have to promote socio-economic development, because without development, there is no peace and vice versa.
