AVZ Discussion 2022

What happened to the CATH extension?
We all know by now $240 million for 24% is a bargain.

Cath will have to do some hard thinking if they wish to materialise that sale.

Zijin / Avz ICC case was called for by Zijin , DRC can thank them for that.
The fact AVZ insisted to have this not behind closed doors is painful for Zijin, cominiere and DRC, but not a criminal offence.

How can Avz lose a mining license they never had?
The ML was taken away from a DRC JV.
If the JV loses the ML permanently the situation becomes even messier.

Can the Drc remove Avz from the JV, taken in account the Igf statement?

The Manono locals and churches got a surprise when Avz opened its books, it understandably pissed CKK off big time.
This of course will be reported back to Felix, MoM and MoP.

Will see what happens next.
Dathomir so far has not spent a cent, they sold 240 million Avz shares they obtained in effect for free. They never made the roads for which they were paid an extra 5% Dathcom shares
Something the DRC should have a very good look at.
Zijin put $33.4 million on the table, did they ever paid the full amount, and a blackmail letter.

We will see what happens.

Hoots every time he opens his mouth proves he is an even bigger fool.

Nah, it means nothing, anyone talking in riddles probably hasn't got a clue either (hope I'm proven wrong) DBs got a nice car or 2 thou :), undoubtedly he's closer to the source than most but the chief seems to be not much wiser than the rest of us.
Let's face it, the Congo (sry drc) is treating us ALL like their bitch.

People who know their stuff, write and talk in plain language...no ambiguity and no Nostradamus-like bullshit.

Anyone talking and writing in riddles and cryptic language is clueless, and just trying to appear informed.

Oh, and don't get me started on the grammar and readability of AVZ's latest announcement. It was written by a five year old.

Cheers

Some advice from Franck who (to date) many of us respect and is in line with what has previously been asked of AVZ supporters.

Yes, i know I've shaken my head in dismay multiple times lately when reading the posts and replies by some of our AVZ investors on Twitter. I'm not talking about the good crowd here who post facts and so on, but there is another undercurrent of hostility put forward by some that's causing a lot of Congolose on Twitter to question the image of AVZ. That's not ideal. Totally understand the frustrations, but we don't need to be swearing at and unbeccessarily antagonising members of our host-community - I doubt it brings us any benefit and quite the reverse.

Again - this isn't directed towards those putting forward the non-hostile campaign against corruption online.

I think Revali’s points are valid - we could be in private discussions (finally) with DRC gov (perhaps before/after the Ministerial meeting?)

I was thinking similarly. ASX may have wanted more info for continuing suspension.

The alarming sentence of the announcement is: "The Company is concerned that the continued activity of the hostile non-state actors may influence the decisions of the key authorities in DRC in a manner that is contrary to applicable law and materially adverse to the interests of the Company." which we already knew to an extent despite this being the first time the company announced publicly.
The company could be highlighting this point re hostile actions/information breaches to emphasize the need to remain suspended.

It then follows that "In light of the unauthorised access of the Company’s confidential and legally privileged information, the Company is taking extra precautions to ensure its confidential discussions with the DRC Government are not leaked prior to resolving the prevailing uncertainty with regards to the mining and exploration rights for the Manono Project."
It could be seen as a positive that AVZ is in "confidential discussions with the DRC Government", of which they don't want info leaked "prior to resolving the prevailing uncertainty with regards to the mining and exploration rights for the Manono Project".
Possibly the company sees a resolution coming from these confidential discussions with DRC gov, and they don't want details leaked to hostile actors "prior to" a resolution re ML?

But I could be way off too and it could be pretty crappy. Like everyone else I got NFI

Hi Roon
Totally frustrating for most SH’s particularly myself …Last AGM our fearless leader admitted his communication to SH’s was a little on the light side & planned to improve on this ,hence 4+ months on & NOT a single message from him …

We as SH’s are left guessing/speculating on whereabouts of our Leadership team…I understand the fragility of certain information but it does’nt hurt to announce who’s where doing what in this circus .Nigel has spent most his working life digging around the DRC & not knowing the extent of the corruption in this place & not being fully prepared for it shows a kind of ignorance or arrogance …take your pick

Not being on twitter looks like a god send for myself …most of it posted here seems a load of self indulgent crap …but after last night finding myself fond of certain french phrases ❤️

I am seeing the latest ann as positive. This is the first ann that I can remember where they have not referred the DRC officials as competent. In fact they have done the opposite and have stated that they are corrupt through the influence of the non-state actors, this is a huge positive.
This is an ann released on the ASX, it is now recorded in their annals for the entire world to see. That is the DRC can be influenced to break their own laws, not good if want Foreign Direct Investment.

Haha I do enjoy a good bout of French now and again. Unfortunately I'm overseas working in a dry area so haven't been able to display any lubricated efforts towards Mantle seizure but all in good time

Couldn't agree more on Management communication to SH's and to the market. It's been pathetic, even if there are good reasons towards the less-is-more info sharing tactic. I just hope that the level of competence displayed in our strategic communications isn't replicated in our comms to the DRC government. I've lost a lot of confidence in the team in the past year or so, but will still back them for now - as what's the alternative?

Just hope the AVZ faithful can keep the narrative at least semi-respectful when engaging with DRC actors, even when presenting accusative facts

Tshisekedi to members of the Sama 2 government: "You have the obligation of results"

The President of the Republic chaired, this Friday, March 31, 2023, in Kinshasa, the first meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Sama Lukonde 2 government.

This meeting comes a week after the reshuffle of the government led by Prime Minister Jean-Michel Sama Lukonde.

The new and old ministers found themselves alongside President Tshisekedi.

We saw in particular Jean-Pierre Bemba, Vital Kamerhe and Peter Kazadi, respectively Deputy Prime Ministers in charge of Defense, National Economy and Interior, Security and Customary Affairs.

Speaking, the President of the Republic expressed his expectations to this new team.

"You have the obligation of results", underlined the Head of State, while recalling the many expectations of the Congolese population.

It should be noted that the Sama Lukonde 2 government comprises 58 members, including 16 women, distributed as follows: 5 VPM, 11 Ministers of State, 38 Ministers, 1 Delegate Minister and 12 Deputy Ministers.

Food for thought on the long and winding road to Manono

Cheers 🙏

Wow a big Friday night happening out there!
Just home after watching my old home team Melbourne Storm smashing the bunnies and seeing that my team, the new power house of the Aussie rules - the mighty magpies thrashing the tigers! What else do you need in life!!!

Well let me tell you what I f..king need! And it's not to see One Direction the band playing at Suncorp Stadium, I want and I need, like most others, what direction we're at and what direction we're heading!

Imo some on here need to take a chill pill and get over what the BoD's are getting paid. Really,(all imo) this day and age if you have a position in a company with some importance (such as our BoD), $250k per year plus is not alot.
The guys & gal's holding ✋️ and 🚶‍♂️ signs in Sydney and Melbourne are earning more than that. Up here in sunny Brisbane , the bikies are earning four times that!! 🤣.

I think we need to relax on the current announcement a little.
99% of us would of been happy with just an extension of the current extension. But they've thrown in 'the difficulties they're facing'! Well fuck me, if you all never thought that we were facing adversities, well fuck me! Atleast they have said it!

From what I know (& that's not much) things are happening (albeit slowly), and I'd like to say we're closer than ever - but that's not true, because we were more or less guaranteed more than a few times late last year (RS time) and February this year that ML was in the bag, only to be foiled at the last minute by the corrupt driven cu.ts!

We are close, and I believe NF & the board are doing everything correctly in our best interests. Alot here think that the BOD don't give a fuck about us shareholders, but I have to totally disagree.
I'll put it on the table - we have five directors (not including our well dressed chairman), I wouldn't (except for RB) do there jobs for $$ any amount at the moment. They have spent months away from their homes and loved ones and still they have no answer to avz's future! Pardon my French, but fuck me! Yet people on here, go on about the wages they're on!!

Imo, we'll all know where we're at in the coming week or two. Once again imo, if we don't know by then, I reckon we are Fucked!

Also can I say one more thing before I pass out with my knickers around my ankles, in my opinion ignore the winks on twitter & the f..kwits like geo and crew on here because no one has any idea what direction we will end up going down at the moment!!

Goodnight♥️

It’s been a testing time Nell’s…. strangely enough culminating with me even ‘liking’ and 🔥 several posts from shareholders here I’ve previously had pretty unsavoury words with

Now that you’ve told us how much the people holding ✋ signs are earning I’m considering applying for the job at the school crossing down the road….

If I get the position it might mean I don’t have as much time to spend on here so as the original Mantle holder I just want to say it was a very good effort, and although not quite enough to lift the Mantle from @Winenut, definitely worthy of an honourable mention…. Another selfie might have actually got it for you

Nice to see you back and full of fire, it’s been a while since the pineapple days…. having a sense of humour helps

Shit …Bags :) Dont worry about selfies …we have her running across The West Gate Bridge 2.8 klm in length when we come out of suspension .Whilst on mindless jobs bags …we’ve got a load of road works going on over here at present & spotted my ideal job :)

After passing countless road signs & cones (traffic that is) you come to a set of lights ….which usually read ….traffic starts coming in the opposite direction following a white ute .Ute pulls over allowing following traffic to pass then proceeds to opposite lane .On green light you are allowed to follow Ute which carries a sign “Follow Me” the poor bastard changing traffic signals are on their feet exposed to the sun plus in verbal range of passing traffic …So rounding it off …thats my ideal SIGN job …”Follow Me” …Thanks all for a great forum …the trolls are so easily recognised …banter is sometimes aggressive but respectful because we are mostly in the same boat …some days it may seem the “Titanic “others the “Sea Princess “ hope your team wins or you back a few winners 🐴 sure cheaper than therapy 💋

I found this an interesting statement.

I would also encourage Aussie retail investors to continue to learn more about how Congolese (regular folks and its elites) currently view the West and the geopolitical rivalry in Africa w/ China. One concrete (though imperfect) way to do so is to continue to follow Congolese Twitter influencers and their tweets about the US, Russia, Mali, France, the conflict w/ Rwanda and the M23 rebel groups, etc. Of all of Africa's peoples, Congolese are deeply skeptical of Westerners and intrigued by China's rise. And, given their history, it is from their vantage point understandable. $AVZ

Interesting point Sammael.

We tend to view things through a Western lens where the separation of powers, rule of law and accountability are givens. We denounce and condemn graft and corruption. However, other countries, including the DRC have a different set of values, particularly where government and business intersect. Regardless of whether we like it or not, graft, corruption and payola are accepted ways of getting things through an opaque and often moribund system.

While AVZ should not engage in corruption, it helps to understand the local context and negotiate agreements that all sides can live with, rather than perhaps maintaining the moral high ground and losing a head-to-head battle. AVZ cannot win a zero sum game when the table is rigged and the umpire makes up the rules on the fly. That means ultimately giving something in order to remain in the game.

Cheers

Here’s my kind of traffic controller John. He gives directions on bridges as well…. Might even do a good job of controlling the traffic here, including telling me where to go

@Sammael I follow a lot of news like your last post refers to and I’m starting to wonder if a certain President in Africa shares a lot of similarities with a certain former President in the US currently facing indictment charges

It doesn’t seem normal when someone who wears watches worth several hundred thousand dollars, and has known about the corruption we have had to deal with for the last year isn’t prepared to take action against these corrupt non state actors

Simon Cong is a non state actor….
“If presidential palaces are symbols of the power of heads of state, other places and buildings still play a crucial role. This is the case of the Fleuve Congo, whose 22 floors and old-fashioned charm dominate the heart of Kinshasa.”

It is where the Congolese state accommodates its guests and some of its dignitaries. Some government figures even have year-round reservations. With rooms that cost between €300 ($299) and €1200 a night, guests are bound to be important.

Simon Cong is a key intermediary between the Congolese state and several large Chinese companies. He owns Sopeco, the company that manages the tolls on the road between Kinshasa and the port of Matadi, and on the road between Kolwezi and Lubumbashi, in Katanga. He is also close to Guy Loando Mboyo, a lawyer who became Tshisekedi’s minister for territorial development with the rank of minister of state.

The Fleuve hotel is also the headquarters of the Congo Construction Company, a company owned by Du Wei, a friend of Cong. The businessman is also well known in Kinshasa and his company is one of the major actors exposed by ‘Congo Hold-up‘, the investigation led by a consortium of media and NGOs on the massive embezzlement of funds during Joseph Kabila’s reign for alleged roles in the ‘contract of the century’- an agreement signed between the DRC and China that has never been honoured.

@KasongoKas is one of them who often speaks about avz, as for others who speak more broadly about western/congolese politics I've come accross them but don't remember any names.
In twitter I find it is better to follow a bunch of people who speak in relation to AVZ and about congolese politics than to put things like '$AVZ' or '#Manono' in the search terms, this way you get a broader representation of people speaking about issues relating to AVZ, Manono and political corruption even if they're not tagging the subject.
