Extract :- “BrainChip selected by U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory to develop AI-based radar

2026-03-16 09:13

BrainChip, the world's first commercial producer of neuromorphic artificial intelligence chips and IP, today announced that Information Systems Laboratories (ISL) is developing an AI-based radar for the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) based on its Akida™ Neural Network Processor Research solutions.

ISL is a specialist in expert research and complex analysis, software and systems engineering, advanced hardware design and development, and high-quality manufacturing for a variety of clients worldwide.

ISL focuses on areas such as advanced signal processing, space exploration, subsea technology, surveillance and tracking, cybersecurity, advanced radar systems and energy independence. As a member of the BrainChip Early Partnership Program (EAP), ISL will be able to evaluate boards for Akida devices, software and hardware support, and dedicated engineering resources.

"As part of BrainChip's EAP, we had the opportunity to directly assess the capabilities Akida offers to the AI ecosystem," said Jamie Bergin, Senior Vice President, Research, Development and Engineering Solutions Manager at ISL.

BrainChip brings AI to the edge in ways not possible with existing technologies. Akida processors feature ultra-low power consumption and high performance to support the development of edge AI technologies by using neuromorphic architecture, a type of artificial intelligence inspired by the biology of the human brain.

BrainChip's EAP program provides partners with the ability to realize significant benefits of power consumption, design flexibility and true learning at the edge.

"ISL's decision to use Akida and Edge-based learning as a tool to incorporate into their research and engineering solutions portfolio is in large part due to the go-to-market advantages our innovation capabilities and production-ready status provide ” said Sean Hehir, CEO of BrainChip, “We are delighted to be a partner of AFRL and ISL on edge AI and machine learning. We believe the combination of technologies will help accelerate the deployment of AI in the field.”

Akida is currently licensed as IP and is also available to order for chip production. It focuses on low power consumption and high performance, supports sensory processing, and is suitable for applications that benefit artificial intelligence, as well as applications such as smart healthcare, smart cities, smart transportation, and smart homes”

This is just a repost of the original article. It was posted on the other place back in March 2023 and in March 2022

For some reason they keep reposting it each March.

It's good to see this partnership bearing fruit:

Laguna Hills, Calif. – March 31st, 2025 BrainChip Holdings Ltd (ASX: BRN, OTCQX: BRCHF, ADR: BCHPY), the world’s first commercial producer of ultra-low power, fully digital, event-based, neuromorphic AI, today announced a partnership with Information Systems Laboratories, Inc. (ISL) to jointly promote and provide services for AI-based radar research solutions based on BrainChip’s Akida™ neural networking processor.

ISL specializes in the areas of advanced signal processing, space exploration, undersea technologies, surveillance and tracking, cybersecurity, advanced radar systems and energy independence. The company performs expert research and complex analysis, software and systems engineering, advanced hardware design and development and high-quality specialty fabrication for a variety of customers worldwide. As part of their partnership agreement, ISL will collaborate with BrainChip to develop advanced radar technology platforms spanning from drones to large systems.

We have proven the efficacy of using BrainChip’s Akida neuromorphic chip to implement some of the most challenging real-time radar/EW signal processing algorithms,” said Dr. Joseph R. Guerci, ISL President and CEO. “This was accomplished by combining ISL’s advanced RF Digital Engineering tools with BrainChip’s developer’s kit. This combination resulted in a low cost, size, weight and power (SWaP-C) solution for challenging edge computing applications in aerospace and defense.”

Guerci discusses artificial intelligence, neuromorphic computing and the future of technology in the national security sector with BrainChip CEO Sean Hehir as part of the latest “This is Our Mission” podcast available on BrainChip’s website and across popular podcast platforms
.

Sadly, Dr Guerci died some months ago, but ISL is carrying on his work.

Hi MPX,

We are all acutely aware of BRN's "pre-revenue" status, but the big hole in Koala's analysis is the omission of any meaningful technical comparison, other than an erroneous assertion that Akida is unproven.

Long term shareholders are here for the technical potential of Akida/TENNs. We are betting on the greatly superior capabilities of BRN's tech.

BRN has an extensive partnership/ecosystem including many Tier 1 companies and leading edge startups.

In addition to Akida's universal sensor capabilities, we know about its microDoppler radar performance, see-in-the-dark radar, cybersecurity capabilities, DVS synergies, radhard satellite applications, SWaP advantages, the promise of Provenance for medium LLM error reduction, ... Many of these capabilities are unique to Akida. And then there's Kevin D Johnson's research which has opened up the possibilities of using Akida in creative applications and possibly gaming.

The adoption delay for such revolutionary tech is long, longer than most of us hoped or expected, but it may be somewhat shortened by international events.

Neither Nvidia nor Intel can be applied at the untethered edge with the advantages of AKida.

Ceva's FPGAs cannot come close to Akida's latency/power advantages.

Synsense is Chinese, so has the risk of exclusion from US and western defence.

Basically BRN is not amenable to traditional share benchmarks because of the revolutionary nature of the tech. Due diligence assessment needs to be much more prospective, as retrospective analysis is of historical interest, but it does not accommodate Akida's potential and should be deemphasized in favour of future potential in light of the truly astonishing technological advances.

Interesting article.
By Arie Egozi, Autonomy Global – Ambassador for Israel
Note the author is an Ambassador for Autimony Global - not an official government appointment. He is however, a long‑standing Israeli defense journalist and analyst with deep connections inside Israel’s defense establishment. That makes him knowledgeable, but not an official or authoritative military decision‑maker.
" In 2026, Ukraine is set to remain a frontline proving ground for Western defense technologies, with AI-enabled and autonomous systems at the center of this live-fire experimentation. Western governments and industry now treat the conflict as a continuous feedback loop for rapid iteration that no laboratory can match."
No mention of Neuromorphic although i would not expect that level of disclosure in any case.

You wont see Tech saying how poor it is or telling his mate Peter the shareholders are getting a rough deal

Jacob, I'm still reading posts, I have absolutely no one on ignore.

You were very quiet to start with, and I encouraged you to engage and post on this forum, which you
since have, you stated you held around 600,000 shares? good on you.

At one point I personally held just shy of 2.5 million shares, just outside the top 20, currently after holding
for about close on 11 years, I currently hold around 988,000......don't you think I'm hurting like many others
here?!!

Sure, my shares jumped 2.5 million dollars in 9 days in early January 2021/22, I forget which year, I did sell
some shares at 1.72 to pay a bill, BUT I'm pissed off like all of us, 11 years!!!!!

I think the IR has always been erratic, Tony was at least approachable in Perth, but reports of no acknowledgement
from Trevor or his team in Sydney is absolutely piss poor, I agree 100%.

I believe we are still 100% better placed then we have ever been, I was looking at our website a few days ago and
thinking to myself how much has improved, then I see a spelling mistake on the latest partnership announcement
with Klepsydra Technologies on LinkedIn and not one person dare mention it out of 93 likes, maybe my OCD doesn't
help seeing it, but honestly, it's beyond a joke, Sean does need to reign this incompetence in....it's embarrassing!

Customers notice it, it's amateur hour.

There are certain individuals with an agenda, I'll be 100% honest, I don't really understand what their beef is with
how our company is, or is not functioning, but things may raise their ugly heads again at this year's AGM.

I just hope that YOU and certain other unhappy shareholders have the balls to stand up and give the Chairman
and the CEO a piece of your mind, this year?

I have made a commitment to say nothing that will give certain individuals oxygen to cause unnecessary trouble
to parties that I 100% respect...I will say no more, except to say this.

WE WILL SUCCEED......GUARANTEED!!!!!

@Jacob Kiraz

Oh thank the Lord.. no need to worry about our investments anymore.. no risk just guaranteed success.

Tech has spoken "WE WILL SUCCEED......GUARANTEED!!!!!"

Maybe he’d like to put his money where his mouth is and personally underwrite any losses.

The confidence would be admirable if it wasn’t so painfully arrogant.
