Sean and Coby have met and had talks in the recent past. They also have presented at some of the same seminars and expos.
They are certainly aware of each others presence.

Although no public linkage currently exists at this point in time between BrainChip and Lockheed’s Golden Dome satellite interceptor effort, I believe it’s entirely plausible that Akida could fit into Golden Dome’s architecture requirement - particularly for autonomous, edge AI in space. Especially given BrainChip has already demonstrated space-readiness through its IP licensing for radiation-hardened systems.

If Golden Dome satellites require autonomous, ultra-efficient, low-latency AI processors, especially in space-hardened environments, there's a clear technical alignment with Akida’s strengths:

  • On-chip learning
  • Event-driven inference
  • Hardened, low-power performance

The article quotes Jeff Schrader, vice president of Lockheed’s space division. Interestingly Jeff Shrader held strategic roles within Raytheon.

Morming Bravo & fellow Chippers ,

Thought that was a pretty fair breakdown by CGPT , especially liked this bit extracted from the original post by Dr Tapson

“... companies such as Anduril and Palantir are showing the way. BrainChip will be part of this integration.

* note , this post was released AFTER the US market closed .

My Question:
This post from Jeff Schrader’s (Lockheed Martin) LinkedIn, published 7 months ago, includes multiple comments from Raytheon employees and highlights that the two companies collaborated on the Next-Gen OPIR GEO satellite project. Given that existing partnership, do you think it suggests that Raytheon and Lockheed are likely to work together on the Golden Dome initiative as well?

ChatGPT's Response:
Absolutely! Based on the available information, here’s what we know—and what it suggests—about the connection between Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, and potential future collaborations like Golden Dome:

Collaboration: Lockheed and Raytheon on Next-Gen OPIR

This isn’t just a rumor: it’s confirmed that Lockheed Martin and Raytheon are already partners on the Next-Generation Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) GEO satellite:

What This Means for Golden Dome

Golden Dome is designed to deliver space-based missile defense capabilities, effectively integrating assets like missile warning sensors, command networks, and interceptors.

Given their existing collaboration on OPIR, it’s highly plausible that:

  • Raytheon and Lockheed have established an operational and contractual framework for satellite-based defense projects.
  • If Golden Dome requires space-based sensing layers (e.g., infrared detection), this existing partnership could extend or speed up collaboration on more advanced programs.

However, no public statement yet confirms that the two will work together on Golden Dome—but the precedent suggests it's well-positioned to happen.

Summary Table

AspectStatus
Lockheed & Raytheon collaborated on Next-Gen OPIR GEOConfirmed
Golden Dome likely to involve both parties?Serves as a plausible strategic continuation
Direct confirmation of Golden Dome collab?None publicly available yet

Final Thoughts

Your LinkedIn post featuring Raytheon employees commenting on Schrader’s Next-Gen OPIR milestone underscores a tangible, working relationship between Lockheed and Raytheon in space-based missile warning systems.

While it doesn't guarantee a Golden Dome partnership, it definitely establishes a strong precedent—a trusted working relationship, shared defense objectives, and a proven integration record—that could easily extend into future collaborative defense architectures like Golden Dome.

I would think 1 day trial access is mainly to get a link to a potential user/client so then the week access will kick in afterwards. A bit like subscribing to a streaming channel. $1 or $10 it is irrelevant.

But it does say only for 1 day
"This is a limited, one-time offer and use, customer qualification for acceptance. You will be contacted for approval and scheduling"

I am going to give them the benefit of the doubt here and assume that it'll be more once and if someone is keen to go further.

Hi Bravo,

The LEO satellites are replaced every 2 years, so that opens possibilities to upgrade to Akida2 and Akida 3.

We already know of links to ESA through Frontgrade, and Sweden is backing Frontgrade's GRAIN RISC-V (Noel-V) processor incorporating Akida 2 IP:

https://www.frontgrade.com/news/fro...wins-snsa-contract-commercialize-first-energy

Gothenburg, Sweden (April 2, 2025) The Swedish National Space Agency (SNSA) has awarded Frontgrade Gaisler, a leading provider of radiation-hardened microprocessors for space missions, a contract to commercialize the first neuromorphic System on Chip (SoC) device for space applications. Already in development at Frontgrade Gaisler, the device is part of the company’s new GRAIN (Gaisler Research Artificial Intelligence NOEL-V) product line.

The first GRAIN device that Frontgrade Gaisler will premier – the Gr801 SoC – integrates AkidaTM neuromorphic technology from BrainChip, the world’s first commercial producer of ultra-low power, fully digital, event-based, neuromorphic AI. The GR801 combines Gaisler’s NOEL-V RISC-V processor and the Akida neuromorphic AI processor into a single integrated circuit to enable energy-efficient AI applications in the space environment. Sweden’s Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) is contributing to this development by designing a demonstration application that uses a neuromorphic sensor directly connected to Gaisler’s new GR801 device.

Frontgrade Gaisler is designing the entire GRAIN product line to enable more advanced and autonomous space missions, and to enhance the space industry's capabilities in energy-efficient AI. The GR801 SoC will support both commercial and institutional space missions, enabling new applications and meeting strict power and weight constraints.

“Our latest innovation opens new avenues and complements our existing range of proven and reliable processing products,” said Sandi Habinc, General Manager at Frontgrade Gaisler. “GRAIN is an exciting new pursuit for Gaisler because we are well positioned to enable new capabilities for real-time data processing, autonomous navigation, Earth observation, and object detection and tracking.

“Our continued collaboration with Frontgrade Gaisler to incorporate Akida IP into space SoCs showcases the importance of having environmentally hardened solutions, already proven to perform in the most extreme conditions,” said Sean Hehir, CEO of BrainChip. “We have worked hard to ensure our neuromorphic technology can meet the low-energy, low-latency, high-performance needs of GRAIN and other space-based devices in order to provide AI at – and beyond – the edge.

Earth observation and object detection and tracking are at the heart of the Golden* Dome. With the regular replacement of the satellites, it's certain that they will also seek to incorporate the latest AI.

Lockheed Martin and Boeing position for major role in Golden Dome missile defence project

https://defence-industry.eu/lockhee...-role-in-golden-dome-missile-defence-project/
...
Golden Dome is expected to incorporate advanced technologies, including space-based interceptors and directed-energy weapons. However, many early components are likely to derive from existing platforms, placing established defence firms such as L3Harris Technologies, Lockheed Martin, Boeing and RTX Corp in a favourable position.

We do have peripheral connexions with Lockheed through Quantum Ventura's CyberNeuro-RT development:

https://brainchip.com/brainchip-pro...antum-venturas-cyberthreat-intelligence-tool/
...
Quantum Ventura developed the CyberNeuro-RT (CNRT) technology offering in partnership with Lockheed Martin Co.’s MFC Division and Pennsylvania State University under partial funding from the U.S. Department of Energy. BrainChip supplies at-the-edge neuromorphic processing to facilitate on-chip learning for deployment network-specific attack detection. Akida’s small form factor provides magnitudes less power consumption than a GPU, overcoming form factor and power limitations of internet-connected devices that otherwise would be unprotected.

OK. This is pretty interesting!

Here's an article published 1 December 2023, in which Jeff Schrader (Lockheed Martin) discusses working with Intel on neuromorphic processors (albeit under the misspelling "neomorphic") for distributed command, control, autonomy, and on-board decision-making.

That Schrader refers to this as enabling “top-level smarter systems” and “working with Intel” confirms that neuromorphic is no longer speculative, but rather it’s under active evaluation. Lockheed is testing solutions now. So, if Intel is in the running, BrainChip could be considered as a complementary or competing solution, particularly for ultra-low SWaP edge AI.

Wonder how big his golden handshake was? Well only not long now until end of the year. That 9 million dollar S Hehir promised will have been long forgotten by the crew here and management as it will never eventuate like every other statement Hehir has made.
