Donot take me wrong. I want you to be right as it will benefit as well. But your or my wish does not matter if the results are not delivered by the management.
I still assume it would had been better to bring akida 2000 than akida 1500 even if that means extra time.
I am worried company is launching akida 1500 just like akida 1000 in a hurry and any failure here will be detrimental.
On the positive note if company can recover the cost of akida 1500 from its sale it will be a good outcome.
Hi Rguta,
I try to listen to most people‘s points to get a balanced view but I’m not sure if you’re being nefarious with you’re criticism of Akida 1000 and 1500.
The Akida 1000 needed to be produced to show that it worked in silicon. A legendary feat which should someday be acknowledged and cheered as the beginnings on the commercialisation of AI and the beginnings of the fourth Industrial Revolution. The base ingredients of the AKD1000 are included in AKD1500 and Gen 2’s with some differences depending on size, power and uses.
If you would like to hold your criticism’s until next week when Mercedes Benz are speaking twice daily at the Munich IAA Mobility exhibition. One of their presentations is about “Pioneering technology.” I could be wrong but I see that as a great opportunity to sing the praises of neuromorphic technology again; which happens to be Akida.
With the upcoming release of the 2024 MB version I would anticipate Valeo Scala 3 getting a mention which also hopefully includes the AKD1000 so we might finally get some acknowledgement and revenue streams from them. Although which quarterly that shows up is still a mystery depending on contract arrangements.
These are two known partners of Brainchip, on their webpage, front and centre. I doubt their CTO’s are saying Akida1000 is a failure. I would imagine they are excitedly discussing the science fiction features and how it enables them to “See the Invisible.”
There are obvious reasons for the Akida 1500. I strongly doubt it was produced on a whim or so it could be superseded by AKD2000.
The eloquent @Diogenese has explained numerous times it was quite clearly made without the Arm M class CPU so companies that didn’t want the extra cost of paying for Arms CPU. The obvious company that includes is SiFive. SiFive was chosen as a supplier for NASA. There have been numerous discussions where NASA have outlined the exact specifications which match the AKD1500 as pointed out kindly by @Fullmoonfever. Coincidentally Global Foundries is a supplier for NASA so it’s a fortunate piece of luck they are involved. As time progresses NASA’s readiness levels will progress through the necessary stages for their numerous product lines and we should see orders; unless of course another competing neural network company suddenly manages to produce a better product without breaching our patents. Unfortunately for all of us this will take time; I’m impatient too but I lack the necessary qualifications to speed up their processes so I’ll have to wait.
Megachips helped with the ”Back End’ of the AKD1500 so I am hopeful they have other use cases in mind. Given Megachips supplies for both Apple and Nintendo it would be nice if one were them; however that is highly speculative.
Despite the SP woes I invested on the knowledge I have gained from my own research and what others have kindly contributed. Edge AI is a growing industry, still in it‘s infancy. I’m not wrapped with the extended timeline but I can’t change it. Will it still happen; I believe so. Therefore I am still comfortable that the sky hasn’t fall in. Life goes on. I have faith the 40 odd companies we are linked with are progressing products of which we should one day see revenue. Until then I’ll soldier on!
I do feel for those in the red, like myself; however there is still a lot to be optimistic about!
