DRC: renewable energies will represent 93% of the energy mix at the Kibali gold mine by 2025​

(Agence Ecofin) - With more than 800,000 ounces of gold produced each year, Kibali is the largest gold mine in Africa. It is currently supplied with energy by three hydroelectric power stations with a combined capacity of 44 MW.

In the DRC, the share of renewable energies in the energy mix of the Kibali gold mine will reach 93% in 2025, compared to 81% currently. This was indicated Monday, January 30 Mark Bristow, CEO of Canadian Barrick Gold, the world's second largest gold producer and co-owner of the largest gold mine in Africa.

The company will indeed build a 17 MW solar power plant in addition to the three hydroelectric power plants that currently supply Kibali. These are Nzoro-1 and 2 and the Azambi hydroelectric plant, with a total capacity of 44 MW.

Kibali is therefore a successful example of how the immense hydroelectric potential of the DRC can support the exploitation of its equally immense mineral potential, to the point of inspiring other mining companies.

Australian AVZ Minerals has signed a memorandum of understanding to renovate the Mpiana-Mwanga hydroelectric power station for its future Manono lithium mine.

Canada's Ivanhoe Mines has also launched two renovation projects involving turbine 5 of the Inga II hydroelectric complex and the Mwadingusha hydroelectric power station, to supply 240 MW of renewable electricity to its large Kamoa-Kakula copper complex.

Poor old corrupt Chinese companies like Zigin getting desperate again after our recent campaigning. They are once again paying off the same corrupt media sources and anyone else they can to try and defend their indefensible fraudulent actions like the intended rip off of our (and the people of the DRC) rights to develop the Dathcom lithium project at Manono.

Talk about a desperate long winded piece of bullshit, possibly even instigated by the Chinese embassy.

Just shows that the shareholders here are winning the fight and time to keep the pressure on and keep exposing Chinese and other corruption

The 13 number is slightly different here though…. there is no 13427 listed

At first I thought you may be doing too much and you’re focus may be wavering away from us in particular…. Then opened your picture up and read it and I think you are doing a fantastic job Spike.

Also really liked when I opened Sam’s video link and immediately saw someone reply with your ‘Princess of Thieves’ work.

Keep up the great work, when shareholders pull together like this we immensely help our own struggle against these corrupt entities.

Don’t know what I could suggest to help really except to try and keep the focus on us…. Everyone has a different approach, mine of late has been to put the spotlight on THE VUKA GROUP who are organising the DRC MINING WEEK EVENTS. Mupande is closely linked with THE VUKA GROUP and I’m sure they don’t want potential investors hearing about our story.

My final thought on your latest work is ‘Excellent’…. I don’t think you need to change anything. The cuff links are a touch of pure class and brilliance!

Yeah I see what you mean. I think this is more of the broader issue, not necessarily intrinsic to us. Next one will get back to our story.

One challenge with this one I see is that when you translate it into French, it may need someone who knows French to make sure the translation is good. We are obviously aware of the expression ball and chain, but sometimes expressions or figures of speech do not translate well when put through google translate etc.

What I've been doing is using ChatGPT to help with translation then I put it back through google translate then back through ChatGPT and make any necessary tweaks. With things like idioms are adages I normally discuss it with ChatGPT to explore other possible pathways. Happy to have those that know or speak French to weigh in.
